BIZARRE NATURE 2!

Mother Nature has many faces, some beautiful, some ugly, and some simply strange. Above is the Snub Nosed Monkey. These elf-like monkeys are found in Asia, at heights of up to 13,000 feet. They eat mainly tree needles, bamboo buds, fruits and leaves.       This is a collection of some of nature's truly bizarre aspects. From mammals to tiny insects, here's more of the oddest things the natural world has to offer. Enjoy! :) Frilled Shark       Deep In the waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans you can find this prehistoric beast with its 300 trident-shaped teeth. It can reach a length of 2 meters (6.6 ft) and has a dark brown, eel-like body. Valais Black-nose Sheep       These sheep are native to Switzerland and sport a distinct color scheme. Mantis Shrimp       This colorful shrimp spends most of its life tucked away in burrows and holes, so very little is known about it. They have recently been called 'prawn killers' and 'thumb splitters', because of their extremely powerful claws and ability to break through aquariums. Pygmy Marmoset       Native to northwestern South America, the Pygmy marmoset is the smallest monkey in the world. Their adult size is between 11 and 15cm (4.6-6 inches), and they weigh in at around 100g (3.5 oz). The Red Crab Migration       Australia's Christmas Island is home of the red crab, a species of crab that spends most of its time in solitude. In the beginning of the wet season, however, these invertebrates migrate in huge amounts throughout the island towards the beach, where they will mate. The local government actually forbids traffic along migration routes. A Starfish Eating       It may surprise you but starfish can be opportunistic predators. This starfish is shown here eating an anchovy.

Chinese Water Deer       Nicknamed the 'Vampire Deer' for their prominent tusks, they are really a small kind of hornless deer. Belgian Blue Bull       The Belgian Blue is a breed of cattle known for their heavily-muscled bodies. Their unusual physique (called double-muscling) is a result of selective breeding. Eastern Long-necked Turtle       This bizarre-looking species is found in Australia and has a distinct long neck, different than most species of turtle and tortoise. When threatened, the long-necked turtle will emit a foul-smelling liquid, which earned it the nickname 'stinker' from the locals. Bearded Vulture       High in the mountainous regions in Europe and Asia is where these beautiful birds can be found. Only 10,000 or so are believed to still be alive after they were hunted due to fear of attacks on lambs and children. Panda Ant       The Panda Ant is not an actual ant, but a wingless wasp. They are also referred to as Velvet Ants thanks to the dense pile of hair on their carapace. If you see one, be careful, these little insects have a very painful sting. Blob Fish       The blob fish is actually a normal-looking fish when in its natural habitat 1,200m 3,900ft) under the sea. When extracted, though, the fish will decompress due to the difference in atmospheric pressure, giving it the distinct unappealing look. Saiga Antelope       An endangered kind of antelope, the Saiga inhabits the Eurasian steppe in Dzungaria and Mongolia. The strange nose is extremely flexible and helps the Saiga filter out dust in the air created by the running, migrating herd. Chevrotain       Also known as mouse-deer, chevrotains live in parts of Asia and Africa. There are several different species, but the smallest ones weigh as little as 4.4 pounds and are the tiniest known ungulates.
