AMAZING LIGHT PILLARS!

These spectacular pictures of Light Pillars show nature's beauty lit up for all to witness. Wonderful things often happen at night. Fortunately there is someone to capture them for us while we're sleeping.       Photographer Timothy Joseph Elzinga was recently woken up by his 2-year-old boy Gibson at 1:30 a.m. when his son spotted beautiful color lights dancing in the sky. Timothy quickly picked up his camera and shot the above amazing photo of what he later learned was a natural phenomenon, called "light pillars."       A light pillar is an atmospheric optical phenomenon in the form of a vertical band of light which appears to extend above and/or below a light source. The effect is created by the reflection of light from numerous tiny ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere or clouds.
