BEAUTIFUL STARFISH!

Starfish or sea stars are among the most familiar of marine animals. Despite its name, the starfish is not a fish; it's an echinoderm, closely related to sea urchins and sand dollars. They possess a number of widely known characteristics, such as regeneration and feeding on mussels. They possess a wide diversity of body forms and feeding methods. They have bony, calcified skin, which protects them from most predators, and many wear striking colors that camouflage them or scare off potential attackers.       Here's Some Awesome Photos Of Them. Enjoy! :)       Purely marine animals, there are no freshwater sea stars, and only a few live in brackish water. Starfish are radially symmetric and typically express pentamerism or pentaradial symmetry as adults.       Most starfish typically have five rays or arms, which radiate from a central disc. However, several species frequently have six or more arms. Several asteroid groups have 10-15 arms, whereas some species, such as the Antarctic Labidiaster annulatus can have up to 50.       Some species of starfish have the ability to regenerate lost arms and can regrow an entire new arm given time.       Some of these can regrow the rest of their bodies from a single arm while others need at least part of the central disc to be attached to the arm. Regrowth can take several months to years.       Most sea stars also have the remarkable ability to consume prey outside their bodies. Using tiny, suction-cupped tube feet, they pry open clams or oysters, and their sack-like cardiac stomach emerges from their mouth and oozes inside the shell. The stomach then envelops the prey to digest it, and finally withdraws back into the body.       There are some 2,000 species of sea star living in all the world's oceans, from tropical habitats to the cold seafloor. The five-arm varieties are the most common, hence their name, but species with 10, 20, and even 40 arms exist.
