With a prayer for her defrosters, she shifted into drive and left for home. The loneliness of the highway, combined with the stress of helping out her newly divorced sister, made her feel empty and bleak. Christmas was coming, but no one in her home felt like celebrating. Realizing her wipers were collecting snow rather than pushing it away, she pulled over. With no traffic coming she slipped out the door. One wiper down and one to go, she hurried to the passenger side when something caught her attention. In the distance was a glowing snowman. It was the plastic type you'd find in a department store. Kathy couldn't make out a single house or structure of any kind. That makes no sense, she thought as she looked back. A smiling snowman glimmered back through the swirling snow. Every night for the next month it greeted her. A glowing red heart replaced it. A shamrock followed, and by April, an enormous basket-carrying bunny arrived. The Friday before Easter, she pulled over and walked to where the bunny stood. Reaching the statue, a bright orange electrical cord was visible twisting towards a cluster of houses ahead. Knowing she could follow the cord to the house where the mysterious decorator lived, she pulled out a note, folded and sealed inside a plastic bag. She taped it to the back of the bunny, smiled and walked back to her car. Her note said this: "What may seem like a small gesture to you has meant more than you will ever know. You brighten my ride home and give me the opportunity to think about something other than my problems. You have proven the smallest of actions can make the largest impact. I don't know your reason for what you are doing, but thank you very much." -- Patricia Bessey __________________________________________________ Patricia says, "I live in Maine with my husband and three children. His executive responsibilities had taken him all over this country. As he concluded his message, he told of one of the most frightening yet thought-provoking experiences of his life. He had been on a long flight. The first warning of the approaching problems came when the sign on the airplane flashed on: "Fasten your seat belts." Then, after a while, a calm voice said, "We shall not be serving the beverages at this time as we are expecting a little turbulence. Please be sure your seat belt is fastened." As he looked around the aircraft, it became obvious that many of the passengers were becoming apprehensive. Later, the voice of the announcer said, "We are so sorry that we are unable to serve the meal at this time. The turbulence is still ahead of us." And then the storm broke. The ominous cracks of thunder could be heard even above the roar of the engines. Lightening lit up the darkening skies, and within moments that great plane was like a cork tossed around on a celestial ocean. One moment the airplane was lifted on terrific currents of air; the next, it dropped as if it were about to crash. The pastor confessed that he shared the discomfort and fear of those around him. He said, "As I looked around the plane, I could see that nearly all the passengers were upset and alarmed. Some were praying. The future seemed ominous and many were wondering if they would make it through the storm. And then, I suddenly saw a girl to whom the storm meant nothing. She had tucked her feet beneath her as she sat on her seat and was reading a book. Everything within her small world was calm and orderly. Sometimes she closed her eyes, then she would read again; then she would straighten her legs, but worry and fear were not in her world. When the plane was being buffeted by the terrible storm, when it lurched this way and that, as it rose and fell with frightening severity, when all the adults were scared half to death, that marvelous child was completely composed and unafraid." The minister could hardly b elieve his eyes. It was not surprising therefore, that when the plane finally reached its destination and all the passengers were hurrying to disembark, he lingered to speak to the girl whom he had watched for such a long time. Having commented about the storm and behavior of the plane, he asked why she had not been afraid. The sweet child replied, "Sir, my Dad is the pilot, and he is taking me home." Jesus said, "Fear not." Those who have given their hand to Jesus must trust that the Father is taking them Home. -<>- -=====- -=====- _..._ _..._ .~ `~. .~` ~. ,_ / } { \ _, ,_\'--, \ _.'`~~/ \~~`'._ / ,--'/_, \'--,_`{_,} -( )- {,_}`_,--'/ '.`-.`\;--,___.'_ _'.___,--;/`.-`.' Faith is the ability to not panic. 2. If you worry, you didn't pray. If you prayed, don't worry. 3. As a child of God, prayer is like calling home every day. 4. Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape. 5. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still. God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot. 6. Do the math. Count your blessings. 7. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts. 8. Dear God: I have a problem. It's me. 9. Silence is often misinterpreted, but never misquoted 10. Laugh every day - it's like inner jogging. 11. The most important things in your home are the people. 12. Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional. (Preach it!) 13. There is no key to happiness. The door is always open. Come on in. 14. A grudge is a heavy thing to carry. 15. He who dies with the most toys is still dead. 16. We do not remember days but moments. Life moves too fast so enjoy your precious moments. 17. Nothing is real to you until you experience it; otherwise it's just hearsay. 18. It's all right to sit on your pity pot every now and again. Just be sure to flush when you are done. 19. Surviving and living your life successfully requires courage. The goals and dreams you're seeking require courage and risk-taking. Learn from the turtle, it only makes progress when it sticks out its neck. 20. Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting. (___________)jgs >THE BIG BOX By: Joseph J. Mazzella Back when my two oldest children were just two and four years old we lived in a small apartment above an old drug store. It had only a single bedroom, so we had converted the tiny dining area into a bedroom for the kids. I remember it only had enough room for 3 things: two small beds and one big box. Every evening my wife and I would gather up all the kids’ toys that were scattered throughout the apartment and fill up the big box for the night. We would then kiss our babies goodnight and walk into the living room to read or watch television. One evening, however, as we were reading we heard the sound of giggling from the other room. When we rounded the corner we found piles of stuffed animals, blocks, toy cars and coloring books thrown across the floor and on the beds. As we turned to the big box we saw two smiling faces looking up at us from within it. We smiled down on them as well. Then we gave our two pajama wearing, box loving, fort dwellers a good tickling before having them help clean up the mess and get back in bed. As I remember those delightful moments from so many years ago one thing still amazes me. That is of all the different toys they had back then my two, little children liked and enjoyed that big, cardboard box most of all. Maybe we can all learn something from those two, little toddlers. This world is full of wonderful things to enjoy and take pleasure in. The most wonderful thing of all, though, is the big box that holds them all: life itself. It is big enough for all the dreams in our minds and love in our hearts. It is big enough to invite others in to play, learn, and grow. It is big enough to become anything you want it to be and anything you choose to make it. Enjoy all of your adventures in this big box of life then. Play, dream, laugh, learn, and love. And always remember that your loving Father in Heaven is smiling down on you as well. -<>- >Links for Your Enjoyment God's Little Love Notes! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/notes.html Proud Of Our Troops 5! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/troops5.html Where's The Line! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/seejesus.html Egg Face Art! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/eggface.html Albino White Moose! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/albinomoose.html Birth Of An Elk Calf! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/elk.html Classic Chevy Collection! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/chevy.html Keukenhof Gardens! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/kgardens.html Kisses Sweeter Then Honey! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/kisses.html Woman Cops Around The World! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/womancops.html -<>- >From Our Friend Linda :) Funny Tim Conway http://videos2view.net/conway.htm Johnny Carson http://videos2view.net/oklahoma.htm Carol Burnette with Tim Conway http://videos2view.net/burnett-conway.htm __ __ / \.-"""-./ \ \ - - / | o o | \ .-'''-. / jgs '-\__Y__/-' `---` You'll love this, besides the cute precious 6 week old baby bears (eyes still closed) the guy (Rick Mercer) has some of the funniest lines. '.__.' -Luciano Decrescenzo >Bowled Over by Kindness Story Editor: by Mia Shinbrot Joyce Schowalter British Columbia, Canada My old desk chair slanted forward and to the left from many, many years of use by the summer of 2004. I'd been badly in need of a new desk chair for some time and looking for one I could afford. I don't have much money, so that limits what I can buy. I tried second-hand stores but never found anything that was right for me. My physical limitations mean that the vast majority of chairs cause me problems of one sort or another. One week in August my friend Celu pointed out that a particular store was advertising in its sale flyer that they had a "leather" executive chair for $70 as part of their back-to-school sale. I went to the store on a Saturday to see it. I couldn't find those chairs, but a sympathetic clerk named Selena showed me that in fact there were six or seven of them left -- disassembled in boxes. I told her I needed to sit in a chair to work out whether it would work for me. She offered to have one of the men in the back assemble one for me if I could come back on Sunday. I said Sunday is fine, but I might still not buy the chair if it wasn't right. She said no problem; they needed a floor model anyway. (That left the point that if I *did* buy it, they'd still have no floor model.) I went back on Sunday. I decided that though not perfect, the chair would do. For $300 I would have been fussier; for $70 it was remarkable value. I took it through the register where the same clerk was working to pay for it and asked if the store had delivery. Selena wasn't aware of any, but a man who was passing said it could be arranged by asking a manager to arrange it with the receiving department. The clerk phoned the manager from the till. He asked her to ask me where I lived. As soon as I said "Esquimalt" she told him never mind and turned to me to say, "I live in Esquimalt and I have a truck. I'll deliver it for you when I get off work." That was going to be in about 15 minutes from that moment. I had other errands to do and was just about to think of a way I could be home when she delivered the chair, when she said, "Go on about your errands and just phone me whenever you get home." I left the store almost in tears from her kindness. I finished errands, got home, phoned her, and she delivered the chair. It's not perfect, but with a cushion I've made it work. Selena's kindness above and beyond the call of duty is something I'll never, ever forget. =======HeroicStories======= >-->From Kidwarmers: _ \`\ _ \ \ /\ \ \ V /\/ ___ /. .\ .'__(>@<) =\_T_/= /.' /|\ / \ || || (( )) ||oO0oO|| {/\) (/\ |-=-=-=-| __\ /__ \=-=-=-=/ jgs (____/^\____) '=-=-=' Q. What does the Easter Bunny get for making a basket? A. Two points... just like anybody else! It was Sunday morning and time for the children's message. The children had all come forward to the front of the church and were gathered around the pastor.
