I smiled at the falling rain even though the drops were big. Those drops didn't discourage me as they fell on the window pane, before the dawn of sunshine I knew there'd be some rain For now the barren gardens are floating in muddy gloom, soon they'll house the buds from where the flowers bloom. We've looked forward to a grand awakening that is happily in the works, a burst of new life from where the bare tree limb lurks. The snow has all melted, Jack Frost has been sent on his way, though we thought we'd never see it we welcome Spring this day. I saw a robin perched on the roof, perhaps scouting out a nest, I placed shedded dog hair on the fence post, mama robin will do the rest. Soon tiny tots on swing sets will be reaching for the sky, filled with wonder and laughter, the magic won't pass them by. The glory of Spring and the awakening it brings, is the joy in the tune that the bluebird sings. It is a chance for us to improve on the days that lie ahead, to make sure the bounty of our blessings keep our hearts and souls well fed. Gardener's thumbs will once again regain their color green, while blooming shades of purple, pink, and red will reign supreme. Spring nights are for young lover's walking hand and hand in the park, beneath the starry skies, a chance to dance in the dark. Every Spring season we are rewarded with this glorious gift of rebirth, and reminded of our own new beginnings every Springtime on this earth. Young dreams will be carried along on warm soothing breezes, sweet recollections of life anew and all that pleases. So, I'm enjoying the rhythm of the gentle falling rain, it's nature's way of saying there is so much for us to gain. These wonderful days of Spring will be bursting out in song, a sweet melody of promise that carries our hopes along. (By Sheila Gosney) [Edited] There's a movement of "spirituality" rising in the world gaining followers with its crafty disguise; Led by those who reject the pure doctrines of Christ trading truth for a big pack of lies. Oh, beware of any story that robs God of glory and hands it over for a self-centered tale. For it puffs man with pride and vanity inside then sets him up to spiritually fail. Oh, beware of a message that says it's all about you and God is here for your wishes and commands. For we're here to serve God with humility and awe through our lives and the work of our hands. Oh, beware of a messenger who won't speak of sin or define it as in the eyes of the Lord. For with it, there's no hope of salvation and repentance and no hope of life being restored. Beware of any sermon, message, or book that teaches only positive thinking by the power of the mind. For without God's direction and the power of His Word we are hopeless and helplessly blind. And, beware of all the newfangled "spiritual leaders" who direct souls anywhere but the lifesaving Cross. For faith in anything but the resurrected King means you die in your sin and are lost. "Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, Who is the head of all principality and power." - Colossians 2:8-10 NKJV Jesus said to him, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. NO ONE comes to the Father except through Me. - John 14:6 NKJV "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them." - Matthew 7:15-20 NKJV SUBSCRIBE INFO Want to receive a Christian inspirational item AND great clean humor in an email to you each day of the week? Regardless of make or year, all units known as "human beings" are being recalled by the manufacturer. This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units code named "Adam" and "Eve," resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units. This defect is technically termed, "Serious Internal Non-morality," but more commonly known as "SIN." Some of the symptoms of the SIN defect: [a] Loss of direction [b] Lack of peace and joy [c] Depression [d] Foul vocal emissions [e] Selfishness [f] Ingratitude [g] Fearfulness [h] Rebellion [i] Jealousy The Manufacturer is providing factory authorized repair service free of charge to correct the SIN defect. The Repair Technician, Jesus Christ, has most generously offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost of these repairs. To repeat, there is no fee required. The number to call for repair in all areas is: P-R-A-Y-E-R. Once connected please upload the burden of SIN through the REPENTANCE procedure. Next, download ATONEMENT from the Repair Technician, Christ, into the heart component of the human unit. No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, Christ will replace it with: [a] Love [b] Joy [c] Peace [d] Kindness [e] Goodness [f] Faithfulness [g] Gentleness [h] Patience [I] Self-control Please see the operating manual, HOLY BIBLE, for further details on the use of these fixes. As an added upgrade, the manufacturer has made available to all repaired units a facility enabling direct monitoring and assistance from the resident maintenance technician, the Holy Ghost. Repaired units need only make him welcome and he will take up residence on the premises. WARNING: Continuing to operate a human being unit without corrections voids the Manufacturer's warranty, exposing the unit to dangers and problems too numerous to list, and will ultimately result in the human unit being incinerated. The man replied that his goal was to make a million dollars. A few days later Ford gave the man a pair of glasses made out of two silver dollars. He told the man to put them on and asked what he could see. "Nothing," the man said. "The dollars are in the way." Ford told him that he wanted to teach him a lesson: If his only goal was dollars, he would miss a host of greater opportunities. He should invest himself in serving others, not simply in making money. That's a great secret of life that far too few people discover. Money is important. No question about that. But money is only a means by which we reach higher goals. Service to others. Obedience to God. God comes to the rich man and says, "You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?" The answer was clear. The rich man had put his trust in things. Now he was leaving these things behind. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:1–2 Have you ever thought that if you could do a miracle for non- Christian friends, they would become believers? Maybe you've said, "If I could just do a miracle, I know they would believe on the spot." I don't think so. I am sure it would be amazing. It probably would move them deeply. But ten million signs and wonders would not make the world turn to Christ. When a person believes in Jesus, it is an act of the heart—an act of the will that has to take place. A miracle is not going to convince someone. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, and afterward, they plotted to kill Jesus and Lazarus. John 12 says that when all the people heard of Jesus' arrival, they flocked to see Him and also Lazarus, the man whom Jesus raised from the dead. And then the leading priests decided to kill Lazarus too. Poor Lazarus. It was bad enough that he had to die once, and then the religious leaders wanted to kill him. Why? Because Lazarus was a living, breathing miracle. His presence alone was a testimony to the power of God. And guess what? You are a living, breathing miracle man or miracle woman if you can talk about how God has changed your life and how He has transformed you. You are a powerful representative of Jesus Christ. So be one. Our message to a lost world is that we are all sinners. We are separated from God. But God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross for our sins and to pay the price for us on the cross and to rise again from the dead. That is the gospel. Just proclaim it, and watch what God will do. as seen in Daily Devotion with Greg Laurie -<>- _....._ .' `'-. / (- J-E-S-U-S ->< '._ _,.-' \ jgs ````` >THE ONE TO IMITATE Ephesians 5:1-2 Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. (NIV) Thoughts Just about every time I go into the woods, I try to be something I'm not. I imitate something else--perhaps a dying rabbit, to attract a coyote or mountain lion; or maybe a worm, to attract a smallmouth bass. I almost always try to imitate something that will help me successfully outwit my prey. In my life as a Christian, I have but One to imitate--God--by being like His Son, Jesus. One of the ways Jesus taught us to imitate God is by loving those He came to seek and to save. He loved us, even to the point of death. That is being like God; and that is what is going to attract others to take God's "bait" and accept His gift of salvation. (Cliff S) Action Point Being a Christian isn't all that complicated. We are to simply be like Jesus, and, therefore, be like God. To do that, we must love as Jesus loved--the Father above all else, and others as He loved them. We are used to telescopes making discoveries in distant planets. How often do you hear about the power of an inch? That's right just an inch. I talked with one of my friends yesterday who is staying in another country. Even though it sounded like he was only a few feet away through the phone, the sound was actually traveling thousands of miles. That's technology and that's impressive. But I've also been impressed lately by the power of an inch. You are probably saying now "What do you keep talking about the power of an inch, an inch doesn't have any power." I'm talking about the inch that two muscles of each side of your mouth moves when you smile. It takes tens of muscles to frown but only two to smile. This is a power that every person can wield no matter what economic level they are or how much technology they have. I began to notice the power when going through checkout lines. If I smiled when I got up to the register, it made the cashiers smile even though they had customer after customer to ring up. Most of the people probably didn't even consciously notice they were smiling. It was as if my mouth moving a inch on each side made some kind of unconscious knee jerk kind of reflex happen in their brains. Without using hypnosis or offering people money, you could get people to respond. You never know what one smile can do to a person's day. Imagine a homeless person on the street sitting on a corner with dirty clothes on and everybody passing by not wanting to even look at them because they are afraid of what they might beg for. Now imagine what it would do for that same person if someone looked them straight in the eyes and gave them a big genuine smile and actually spoke to them first and said "Good afternoon, it's good to see you today." Sometimes work beats us down so much that by the time we get home our children may not see a smile the entire evening. In some marriages, smiles even among spouses have gone the way of the retired practice of opening a car door during dating. As I even thought about it, a smile and knowledge are two of the only things in life that you can give away and have no less for yourself. As you go through the day, pay attention to how your facial muscles feel when speak to people in passing. Then try to begin with a smile when you speak to people and notice the difference in their response to you. We traditionally think we are supposed to smile when we are happy. Maybe the reverse is true too; try looking at yourself in the mirror then give yourself the biggest smile. Now notice how the hormonal response of your brain affects the way you feel. When you smile at yourself in the mirror, do you feel happier, the same, or more sad? Now, imagine what others will feel if you can make yourself feel happier. Just when you may have thought you had nothing or couldn't afford to give anything, give a smile. Give them an inch and they will take a smile. ~A MountainWings Original by James Bronner~ -<>- To SUBSCRIBE: Send an e-mail with SUBSCRIBE CUP O'CHEER in the subject line to cheer316@sc.rr.com. =========================================================== \\ ///// | | (| _ _ |) |` | '| | __ | >>>___/\_^__/\___<<< / ||| \ Mike Hertz >Love Never Fails Story Editor: by Bethann Joyce Schowalter England, United Kingdom Frank was a soldier, and all the time he was in Burma as a POW, he dreamed of getting out and having a life. He suffered terribly, and was left scarred physically and emotionally. When he came home, his fiancee's parents worried his scars meant he was too damaged to make a good husband. They forbade him to marry "Bette". Frank and Bette obeyed, as was done then. Neither married. Frank worked hard, cared for his parents, an aunt, then a disabled nephew. Bette was the same, the maiden aunt always helping others. She too helped people avoid public-funded care, helping people spend their last days in homely comfort. She and Frank spoke often, but visited infrequently due to distance. As Bette's health failed, she was moved to a beautiful, privately-funded nursing home. She loved her beautiful sunny room, the gardens and duckpond. She was waited on compassionately, as she'd cared for many others. Frank, however, was in a dingy, dark rented flat, with no central heat or bathtub. Yet Frank never seemed to mind. We nurses brought Frank "extras", worried he'd forego warm socks or dinner. We loved his gentle ways, humour, and the little gifts he made for us. He was patient as we bandaged his legs wounds -- painful ulcers still weeping from his torture scars. One day Frank asked a nurse to take him to see Bette. She drove Frank on her own time. She watched Frank hold Bette's hand, obviously comforting her. Oblivious to Bette's dementia, Frank spoke heartfelt words. Before he left, he kissed Bette, and she said, "Frank?" The nurse ran out, sobbing. After that, if necessary, we paid ourselves for a taxi to get Frank to Bette. Once I asked him how she afforded such a nice nursing home. Putting finger to lips, he showed me sheaths of legal documents, insurance, investments, pensions. He said "I pay. Please: If something happens to me, make sure Bette never wants." I was dumbstruck. Frank lived in poverty to ensure Bette's exceptional care. Over time we convinced Frank to eat better and get a mobility scooter so he could visit Bette himself. Asked if he was happier he said, "I was afraid if I took anything, there wouldn't be enough for Bette. I couldn't bear to see her go without..." Then the call from the nursing home, "Please get Frank". Beautiful Bette had passed away in her sleep. Frank said his goodbyes. Returning to his home, I found Frank happy. "She's free", he said. "No more pain. Someday, I'll join her -- free, too." Bette's 18 years of care cost Frank one million dollars. He then trust-funded the nursing home for free care in Bette's name -- endowing two beds for the forseeable future. The day I left to move to another place, Frank took my hand to share a secret. "We married in 1951, but didn't want to hurt her folks. Did I fail her?" I told Frank he was my hero. He'd lived in poverty with enough to live like a king -- for Bette's sake. =======HeroicStories======= >-->From Kidwarmers: >THE FUNNY THINGS KIDS SAY ,/ \. |( )| \`-._:,\ /.;_,-'/ `.\_`\')(`/'_/,' )/`.,'\( |. ,| :6) (6; \`\ _(\ \._'; `.___...---..________...------._ \ | ,' . . . . .`:. \`.' . . . . . . . \\ `. . . \ . . ..::: . :: \ . . . ..::::::::'' ': . || \ `. :. .:' \ '. . ;; `._ \ ::: ; _,\ :. |/( `.`::: /--....---''' \ `. :. :`\` | |:': \ `. :.\ | |' ; \ (\ .\ | |.: \ \`. : |.| | ) / :.| | |.| /./ | | |.| | / / | | | | | /./ |.| ;_;_; ,'_/ ;_| '-/_( '--' /,' SSt Breann's dad was driving. Jordan, 5, combined the words moustache and beard in her mind and said, "Paw-paw, why didn't you shave your bustache?" -- Paul and Ruby from Marion, Illinois When Jordan was 3 he had trouble keeping his aunt, Melba, and his great aunt, Lola, straight as to who was whom. Melba and Lola were about the same age and though Melba has red hair and Lola had ash blonde hair, he still thought they were similar. (At his height maybe all he saw were their knees!) He called Melba, "Delma." No amount of explaining or telling him her name convinced him that her name was Melba. She was "Delma" to him forever more. So, when Lola came over for a visit one time, he ran to the door and his grandmother said to him from another room, "Is it Melba?" "No, it's the other Delma!" he told her. -- Crystal Miller (mother of Jordan) of Fairmount, Indiana `. | `._-._ / `. -'. .'o \ `.`-.- .' .' `-.`.', .' | `.`.`. I would give you all the world, That you are deserving of, And to you I would give My everlasting love. I would see to it, That you were never sad. And nothing in your life Would ever happen bad. I would wish for you, All things would go your way, And you would always be happy, Each and every day. In my dream You would stay Just as beautiful As you are today.
