Does He see His own reflection, Or does He just see me. Does He see His likeness, The product of His hand. Or just another Christian, Who never took a stand. Does He see a child of God, A child that He made free. Living life to honor Him, Or does He just see me. What about the other folks, I meet along the way. Do I show them Jesus, To brighten up their day. When someone looks into my eyes, Can they truly see. That calm and gentle peace of God, That dwells inside of me. When I reach out and shake a hand, Is He right there in my grip. Can they feel that strength from God, That steadies when I slip. When folks are in my presence, Do they know His Spirit's there. Can they see that He's the one, Who guides me everywhere. When other people think of me, What is on their mind. Do they think of Jesus Christ, So gentle and so kind. I try to be like Jesus, Every single day. Spreading love and kindness, All along my way. I'm afraid that I have failed, I could not pass the test. Deep inside my heart I know, I haven't done my best. I have had to fight my flesh, Since the day that I was born. It's always causing trouble, And being such a thorn. That's why His Spirit dwells in me, He's helping me to learn. In every situation, Where I need to turn. He knew I'd never pass the test, That's why He took my place. He gave His life to save my soul, He suffered my disgrace. Now I try to be like Him, I must represent Him well. So other folks will want His gift, And turn their backs on hell. Other folks should see the joy, That Christ has given me. They should want to have it too, Especially since it's free. They should begin to ask me, What is it they must do. Just how it is they go about, Getting Jesus too. Then I get to tell them, This wondrous gift is free. It only takes a humble heart, A prayer on bended knee. Someday when I'm face to face, With the Lord who made me free. Will He see His own reflection, Or will He just see me. - by Chick Velasco ============================================================== >-->From Our Friends Del, Casey, & MrWu :) >9/11 Flag Flying .. * * * * * * * * * * $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ .$$$$. * * * * * * * * * * $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. .$$$$$ * * * * * * * * * * ::::::::::::::::::::::::::. .::::::::' * * * * * * * * * * $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$F * * * * * * * * * * $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$d$$$$$$$" ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::; $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::; ^$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$" ^$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ":::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::" ""$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$P $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$L ;; ;::::::::::::::::;; ;;:::. $$$$$$" "" $$$$$; Donna Shepherd ^$$" $$$$ "" Please join us in this FLY THE FLAG campaign and PLEASE forward this email immediately to everyone in your address book asking them to also forward it. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this sixth anniversary of our country's worst tragedy. We do this in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms. In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds. Action Plan: So, here's what we need you to do... (1) Forward this email to everyone you know (at least 10 people). Please don't fail to do this. Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you. (2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day. ---- ...Thanks Del - a timely and good reminder! >Please Also Visit our pages here: Bleed America: http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/poems/bleed.html Rolling Truck 9-11 Tribute! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/trucking.html WAR PICTURES: Daily With The Troops http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/daily.html WAR PICTURES: Sleeping With The Troops http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/sleep.html WAR PICTURES: Humor With The Troops http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/humor.html ==================================================================== >-->From Heartwarmers: >LOVE, LAUGH AND ENJOY by Betty King , :. ,__.`|\' , \,^|/|='._=-_. -.,\ \_) \/(^_)\/ (_/ / -:__ .-'~__)` ___-`~. ___ ~(_'-)-~` -^~\ ~-.' _ '. .' _ `.-._~/^~. _.=^<-.'| (@) | | (@) | ->.-^` ~-._>-'`. .'~'. .'`-<~.' .-~^'__^^--~`_...__`~--^^. _,^= `-^ __.;--~`( | )`~--;-~-._`: __...'~``.~ ^'-._\_/_.-'^~-.~-_...__ /. ~- `\-. ^.~ .`~` `.~-. ^.-/~.- ^,\ |^'- .` ~|_`-.._:_._,_:_,_..-'|- ~ . They tend to look at the world and all that surrounds them through skeptical, judgmental lenses. They become cantankerous and cease to enjoy the world around them. How sad. Age should cause us to take in, appreciate and enjoy the world around us and those we come in contact with. Older people should stay a bit contemporary in thought while meshing wisdom with the reality of their age. Youth is fun and age is stability -- what a wonderful combination. If only we adults could look at the world through the eyes of a child, we would be more accepting of the things that are important. We adults become demanding. Things desired become essential. We judge prematurely as our eyes lie to us. When did we graduate to the point we need a referee to settle the argument between innocence and rebuke? Our fault-finding and criticism replaces admiration and respect and we often become what we detest. Our granddaughter, Hanna, loves to go with her mother to yard sales. She proudly states that's where she acquired a cute little outfit I complimented her on. Many adults would hide the fact their purchase was found anywhere besides a high-price department store. Why do we let pride replace innocence? One day Hanna's grandpa, Bill, and I had her out for an outing. We pulled into a parking space and Bill jumped out to go in the store. Hanna and I were enjoying our time together and I noticed a rather cluttered looking vehicle parked beside us. "Me like that truck," Hanna's words jumped out and grabbed me. Surprised that she had noticed the unkempt vehicle, I asked, "You do, why do you like it?" "Me just do," she stated. I begin to try and see what she saw in the truck with a multitude of items hanging from the rear view mirror. It looked littered and untidy through my eyes. But, I decided through Hanna's eyes she was intrigued by the very colorful items that I saw as clutter. What is debris in the eyes of an adult is a treasure in the eyes of a child. Then I looked around at the untidy interior of my own vehicle and wondered how another older adult might judge me because of my messy van. We adults often find irrational reasons for judging, and complicated reasons for liking things or people. Children don't need complex reasons for enjoying or loving. We adults seem to have to seek reasons to love and to appreciate. Children just do. Maturity should bring with it lessons learned, but often wisdom is seen in the heart of a child. We often don't see ourselves as we appear. As age has come upon me, I realize that fact even more. I don't see myself as the mirror reflects or as my birthdays confirm. But, one Sunday morning a little child validated the fact that I had arrived at "old age." Going from the parking lot into church recently one Sunday morning, a little boy walked up beside me as I rode on my jazzy motorized wheel-chair. I'm sure, I correctly understood the little fellow as he called me an "old lady." I thought to myself as he uttered those words, well Betty, you better just face it -- those words are coming from the innocence of a child. He sees you as you are -- not how you feel, how you once were, or how you wish you could be. So keep in mind, wisdom isn't necessarily only seen in the elderly, so don't miss seeing it in the young. Fun isn't reserved only for youth -- so love, laugh, and enjoy life as you age, and remember to look for wisdom in the heart of a child. -- Betty King ___________________________________________ Betty is a Heartwarmer Gem, a newspaper life style and devotional columnist, and the author of four books including It Takes Two Mountains to Make a Valley. In the late 19th century loggers rolled and slid logs down this sharp 300 ft incline on a wooden slide, to be loaded on lumber schooners waiting below in Lake Superior. The view from this perch was simply breathtaking! When I looked to my left all I could see was an eight mile stretch of 300 ft high sand dune layered in colors from the minerals in the area creating a wall along the lake.. When I was a child the beginning of September always equaled excitement and joy because that was the time of the local county fair. One of my earliest childhood memories, in fact, is riding the Merry-Go-Round with my Mom holding onto me while I giggled and held onto the horse. I remember too walking around and sharing a warm box of popcorn afterwards. It was such a blessed time. As I got older I moved on from the Merry-Go-Round to the bumper cars, scrambler, octopus, and cyclone with the other big kids. I also moved on from popcorn to hot dogs, cotton candy, pizza, and cokes as well. I learned quickly too that it is always best to ride the rides first and eat the food later. When I grew into adulthood, though, I found myself back at the Merry-Go-Round again this time holding onto my own kids as they giggled and held onto the horses too. Now with my children all teenagers I am taking a break from the fair rides for awhile. I am resting up for the future, however. In ten or fifteen years my grandchildren may just need a steady hand to hold onto them as they laugh and enjoy their first rides on the Merry-Go-Round. Life at times can be a lot like those rides at the fair. Sometimes you get to delight in and giggle your way around the Merry- Go-Round. Sometimes you end up banging up against others in the bumper cars. Sometimes you end up on rides that make you scream, turn your face white, and make you throw up two pounds worth of fair food. Sometimes you even get to watch God's, glorious sun go down from the top of the Ferris Wheel. At the end of it all, though, what you remember is the joy you experienced, the laughter you shared, and the love you felt. I thank God then for fairs and Merry-Go-Rounds. May they always brighten children's souls and warm adults' hearts. May they always bless this world with their joy. -<>- Several hundred years ago the people of Bohemia were forbidden to possess or to read the Bible by the Emperor of Austria, to which country Bohemia then belonged. Nevertheless, many of the people did have Bibles and refused to give them up. So soldiers were sent out to search the houses and take any Bible which might be found. When the people of any village heard that the soldiers were coming, they made haste to hide their Bibles in some secret place. Consequently, although the soldiers searched the houses thoroughly and roughly, many Bibles were not found. One day the report came to a house that the soldiers were on their way. There was only a young girl there, and she was kneading dough for bread. On hearing the breathless whisper of the sentinel, the quick-witted girl spread out her dough, placed the Bible in the center and, quickly doubling the dough over it, put it into a big pan and slipped it into the oven. When the soldiers arrived a few minutes later, she met them at the door, and in answer to their demand for the Bible, calmly told them to search and see if there was one in the house. They looked into every corner of the cottage but found none. When they opened the stove door, they saw only a large loaf of bread baking. Years afterward the grandson of the heroine of this story came to America and settled in northwestern Ohio. He brought with him the Bible which his grandmother had saved from the soldiers. It had been carefully kept as a relic of days which, fortunately, are no more. The Holy Bible is a perfect Book from our perfect God. It is His love letter to us. Here the Father plans, the Son executes, the Spirit operates. The way of salvation is given; Heaven is revealed; Hell is described. The cross is its center, eternal life its fruition and God's glory its end. By it the soul is cultured, the mind enlightened, the memory enriched and the heart established. The Bible is the traveler's guide, the pilgrim's staff, the warrior's sword and the fighter's shield. It is the telescope of faith, the microscope of conscience, the mirror of Christ's face and the casket (or jewel box) of God's grace. It is food for the heart-hungry, drink for the soul-thirsty, medicine for the sin-sick and life for the spiritually dead. Read it to be godly; use it to be fruitful; believe it to be faithful; trust it to have peace. God has magnified His Word above His great name, and has commanded that it be preached and practiced. It is His standard of judgment. By it all are wooed and waned, saved or doomed. Read it in the company of the Author. Be a Bible-read, Bible-fed Christian. It covers the course of time between two eternities and will live forever. --Author Unknown -<>- >"When will I stop hurting?" When will I stop hurting?" The question was simple but difficult to answer. She was challenging me. I wanted to help her, but I knew that only she could answer that question. Whenever someone writes to tell me about a death, I always talk about the difficult months ahead. I refer to it as a "Year of Firsts." The first holiday, birthday, anniversary, summer picnic or other personal event without that loved one. Then there are those little things you never really paid attention to before, but now find a gaping hole right in the middle of your day. Like the time they woke up each morning, how they had their coffee, the sound the door made around dinner time when they arrived home and the way they said "hello." But there was something about this message today that made me stop and really think about what I needed to say. Oddly, I decided that the pain she was feeling was a good thing, but I wasn't sure she wanted to know that. Here is exactly what I wrote to her: When will you stop hurting? That is a measure of the love you shared and how does one measure love? By remembering them long after they are gone. "Memories" are the shadows of a life well lived that remain long after the light of their being has gone out. May you never forget. "Pain" is the echo of remembering those special moments when all the world belonged to the both of you. The day will come when the pain of remembering turns into understanding the privilege of ever having them in your life at all. Remembering will be a joy. Although the pain is great at times you are reminded still, how very much you loved and were loved. May the rest of your life be a reflection of that love and when your time comes may your passing cast long shadows for all who loved you, too. "I believe in you!" She dearly loves this puppy which she named Vicious because he barks at everything, including door bells ringing on television. He barks like crazy at visitors, but as soon as he is satisfied that they have been effectively barked at, he is ready to be petted and automatically has made a new friend. Some time back, my daughter moved to an apartment that didn't allow pets and she needed to find a home for Vicious. I really care about all animals but I really wasn't sure I wanted to be the surrogate parent to a yappy little "Wiener Dog". The first night he was with us we found out that he was bound and determined to sleep with my wife and me -- under the covers. Down he went to find a spot which he pawed at and circled several times before he was content, laid down and went to sleep. Sometime later, he wiggled his way out from under the covers, not knowing or caring what time it was or where he was, and he shook his head vigorously. Out of a dead sleep, I got my face slapped with a pair of flapping ears -- what a way to wake up! Then he headed down to the end of the bed, outside the covers, and laid down. It was like he was taking a break, from sleeping. Now just about the time I was getting back to sleep, he decided it was time to get back under the covers. So up he came, wiggled his way between my face and the pillow and down he went under the covers and settled in right next to my legs. After a few minutes of wondering if I was going to be able to tolerate his comings and goings, I fell back to sleep. Well, about this time he started having doggie dreams and started to kick and run in his sleep. Now I'm wide awake and contemplating what to do with my new bedmate and where I might be able to relocate, place, or move him to so that I could get some sleep. Eventually, I did fall back to sleep. Morning arrived and I slowly opened my non-ear-beaten eye to see what was going on. I saw the little guy sitting about 6 inches from my nose watching me for some indication that I was awake. I quickly closed my eye and pretended to be asleep. But it didn't work. He reacted by snuggling up to my face and gently laying his head on my cheek. Now this can be truly classified as "face-time"! This closeness made me realize that all the things he did to wake me up the night before were trivial. He has been with us for several weeks now and he goes through pretty much the same routine every night and every morning. After he is satisfied that I am really awake, he gives me a couple of quick licks on my cheek, nose, and forehead as if to say, "I love you and it's time to get this day started." He jumps off the bed and starts his rounds as he goes from room to room to make sure it's safe and nothing has invaded his territory during the night. He then saunters back to me as if to report that everything is OK. As you can tell, this little "wiener dog" has found a big place in my heart and even with his nightly ups and downs he's definitely here to stay. I really enjoy the "face-time". -- Jay Miller ____________________________________________ Jay says, "My wife Diane and I live on a small ranch in Marriott/Slaterville, Utah with Vicious, four cats and ten horses. Comins "I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated to us through this book." --Abraham Lincoln "For we must consider that we shall be as a City upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us. So that if we shall deal falsely with our God in this work we have undertaken, and so cause Him to withdraw his present help from us, we shall be made a story and a byword throughout the world." --John Winthrop, Governor of the Massachhusetts Bay Colony, 1630 "America was born a Christian nation. America was born to exemplify that devotion to the elements of righteousness, which are derived from the revelations of Holy Scriptures. Part of the destiny of Americans lies in their daily perusal of this great book of revelations. That if they would see America free and pure they will make their own spirits free and pure by this baptism of the Holy Spirit." --Woodrow Wilson "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here." --Patrick Henry, original member of the Continental Congress ---> Visit my CyberHome - ALWAYS OPEN HOOUSE :)Shangy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.ShangralaFamilyFun.com/index.html Shangrala ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -->Bigham's Computer Rescue - PC Sales && Service You can trust us to provide you with quality computer sales and repair.
