I was talking with my friend John from Christian Educational
Services [bless his heart] which led me to adding 3 of their
wonderful articles to our BibleStudy teachings.
I add teachings to my site that are very special to me and I don't
want to loose. I've been on the internet for over 10 years now and
have seen sites go down without any warning.
These three I want to share with you and hope they are as much of a
blessing to you as they are to me.

When Was Jesus Born?
FAQ: I have heard a number of people say that Jesus Christ was not
born on December 25, the date that Christians celebrate as his
birthday. Is that true? If not, why do people celebrate on that date,
and when was he born?

What Is 'Slain In The Spirit'?
The experience called 'slain in the Spirit' usually occurs in churches
when the minister or speaker has an altar call and puts his hand on the
forehead of the person who has come forward for ministering, who then
falls over. Sometimes the minister does not even have to touch people,
but only gestures toward them and they fall down. When they fall, the
people may be unconscious, semi-conscious, or fully conscious.
Occasionally, even people in the pews, or the audience, fall over when
the minister gestures or waves his arm at them.

ARE ANGELS REAL?
What does the Bible say about angels?
A lot!
Why? Because God is love, and the world is a war zone. The chief
combatants are God and Satan, and what they are fighting over is you.
Yes, people are the prize, the spoils of war, if you will. God wants
to win people so He can love them, bless them, and give them
everlasting life. The Devil wants to win people so he can destroy
them (John 10:10a).

>Being Healed Acts 3:1-8
One day at three in the afternoon. Peter and John were on their way to
the temple to attend a prayer meeting.
They came across a man who was being carried by his friends, this man
had been a cripple since birth. Everyday, his friends would bring him to
the Temple where they would set him down near the temple gate called
“Beautiful” and he would spend his days begging for what little people
had to offer him. He saw Peter and John walking toward him and he called
out to them asking for whatever they could spare. Peter stood in front
of the man and looked him straight in the eye and spoke, saying….” Look
here, I don’t have single coin to my name, but what do have, I give you
freely in the Name of Jesus Christ, get up and walk! Peter reached out
to take the mans hand to assist him to rise and the moment he did so,
the man regained strength enough in his feet, ankles and legs and the
man first stood then jumped with joy! The man then accompanied Peter and
John, singing and dancing and praising the Lord as he went with them and
crowds of people saw the man running and jumping! This man! Well known
to have been crippled from birth!
What an amazing account!
This man was well known! It could not be as some have said, a classic
‘con job’! Everyone knew him!
What ‘Power? Did this man Peter have? That immediately after speaking
to this man, the man danced! For Joy and praise the name of Jesus! What
IS this Power?
Well, let’s go back a little bit to a day known as the Day of Pentecost.
That day “ Power” came down like a mighty wind from heaven and many of
those people who were there to listen to Peter preach his first sermon
were ‘anointed’ by that POWER to become Disciples! They were the
‘recievers’ of an enormously powerful ‘gift’. That gift, the most
precious of ALL gifts, enabled them to share ‘what’ it was that they
had. A gift that was wrought by the death of One “Jesus Christ of
Nazareth” who had died for the lost, a short time before.
It was on that Day, that people who had heard Jesus preach, and who had
heard of deeds performed, deeds where known sick people and even the
‘dead’ had been raised, began to really ‘see’ for the first time, the
Awesome POWER of the Holy Spirit!
Many people of today, with all the knowledge and proof we have, still
‘doubt’ the Word of God! You see, the only power they know is
‘negative’ power. “Biggest is best,” is how they believe.
Those people have a tendency to ‘mis-use’ any power or authority they
have been given!. No one likes a ‘power monger’! People might ‘fear’
them, but fear and respect are two very different things!
Not all ‘powerful’ people are tyrants. Not all people surrender to
Satans wishes to ‘rule’ the world, but yes! There are some! Too many ,
as we all know. So yes! ‘power’ certainly has a very negative element
but it can also have a ‘positive’ element and it certainly had a
‘positive’ impact on Christianity on the Day of Pentecost.

...Thank You Tony! I do so love this account in the bible and it
reminded me of our teachings on Orientalisms of the bible. This
one in particular...
Mark 10: 46 - 52 -- And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of
Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind
Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And
when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and
say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him
that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou
son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him
to be called. And they called the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good
comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose,
and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou
that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I
might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith
[believing] hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight,
and followed Jesus in the way.
In order to understand the importance of this record, we need to first
understand the concept of 'beggar' in the East. A beggar would normally
go to the back door of a house and ask for help in meeting his or her
needs. This is how they would receive food and drink. Most of the
so-called beggars seen in public places are not there to beg for money
or food. They usually have a physical challenge, such as being, blind,
lame, or having a disease like leprosy. They have no hope of a cure from
doctors, so they place their believing on a cure from God. So they go to
public places to find a holy man of God who can heal them.
The last place someone may go for deliverance is just by the roadside.
If a holy man passed by even his shadow may heal the sick and lame. This
is where Bartimaeus was that day. He was not begging for bread, but for
healing. There is nothing in the record to indicate that Bartimaeus was
a poor man, but he was blind, and he wanted to see. Imagine how he felt
when he heard that the famous Jesus of Nazareth was walking down that
very road. That is why he cried out so loudly. He embarrassed some of
those standing nearby, and they told him to be quiet, but he cried out
all the louder. He knew that it was his time to be healed, and he wasn't
going to let it pass. When Jesus stopped and called for him, Bartimaeus
tossed aside his robe and went to him. The robe is a symbol of a man's
status in the community, which is another indication that Bartimaeus was
not a poor beggar. But he laid it aside when he went to Jesus, to show
he was willing to lay aside his earthly status in order to be made
whole. This is a lesson for every believer to this day, to lay aside
earthly symbols and go to God with a believing heart. This is the lesson
we learn from the 'beggars' in the bible.
We see similar records like Bartimaeus in the bible, and note that there
are certain places people go to seek healing. One place to go is to holy
waters:
John 5: 2, 3 -- Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool,
which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In
these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered,
waiting for the moving of the water.
Here a man, sick for 38 years, found healing by Jesus Christ, and he
didn't even have to go into the water! [Read the rest of the record from
verse 4 to 9].
Another place people go to be healed is the gate of the temple. There
are always crowds of people about, and one of them may be a holy man,
like the record in Acts.
Acts 3: 1 - 7 -- Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at
the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour [3:00 p.m.]. And a certain man
lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the
gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms [ask for help]
of them that entered into the temple. Who seeing Peter and John about to
go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him
with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to
receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none;
but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth
rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up:
and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength.

>Redemption from the Mud Story Editor:
by Mary Malone Joyce Schowalter
Washington, USA
I was prepared for the worst. I had water, gloves and tools to scrape
the mud, garbage bags in which to put the broken picture frames, tables
to set out the photos. But I wasn't prepared for what I saw when I
opened the first bag.
I had volunteered for cleanup efforts from the flood in Centralia,
Washington, in December 2007. A gal named Kathryn had sent a volunteer
to my home with photos: four bags and two boxes.
The bags were mostly full of pictures in frames, old 70's high school
pictures, a black and white or two, and lots of snapshots. I was amazed
to see that under an inch of mud, they weren't destroyed.
Water really isn't an enemy to pictures, they are developed in liquids,
and as long as they don't dry out in this condition, they can be cleaned
and made right again. I started on the first pile. I had glimpsed a
black and white in the bag and thought I ought to start on the oldest
ones first.
I had to break the frames in order to get the swollen cardboard backings
off. As I peeled, rinsed, and scraped the mud I got down to the glass
and the picture. As I slid my putty knife along the edge of the glass,
there appeared an old gentleman in a gray flannel hat, with a
distinguished-looking mustache. The photo was in nearly perfect
condition.
Encouraged, I plunged onward, releasing brides and grooms, babies with
moms, and school aged children from their muddy prisons.
What I was not prepared for as my tables filled up with faces was the
surge of raw emotion I felt as I looked on decades of photos nearly
destroyed by the raging waters of winter rains. It broke my heart that
though these pictures were now relatively safe, many others were lost to
their mud-covered sepulchers.
A lesson came to me clearly: if your pictures of your family are
precious to you, treat them like family. Don't store them on the ground
floor if you live close to water of any kind. Make duplicates and store
them off-site, in a safe deposit box, or a relative's home.
And don't print your pictures at home! I know we all do it, but don't
let that be the only copy! Pictures printed by professional developers
can be rinsed and cleaned without fear of ruining the photo. Photos
printed at home wouldn't be all right after sitting in mud for days --
in fact, they wouldn't be there at all.
The first night I rinsed and rinsed for about five hours. My counters
and four tables were full of faces I knew nothing about. Families I
don't know, children who are grown up with their own children, water
skiers, cruises, boat rides, Mustangs, Harleys, babies, grandparents,
toddlers and toys.
But mostly... my tables were full of hope for rebuilding.

>A Thief and Robber
Eight or so years ago there was a story carried in various newspapers
about a woman from Missouri who was startled out of a dead sleep one
night by some desperate cries of "Help! Help!" You know how it is when
you awake to some sound: you are not at all certain whether you really
heard something or if it was just a dream. At first she thought perhaps
her husband had cried out, but he was sleeping soundly next to her. Then
suddenly she heard the cries again: "Help! Help!" Finally she threw
back the covers and headed downstairs toward their living room. "Help!"
went the plaintive voice yet again. "Where are you?" the woman replied.
"In the fireplace," came the rather shocking answer.
And sure enough, dangling in the fireplace with his head sticking
through the flue was a burglar, upside down and quite snugly stuck! The
police and fire department got him out eventually, though not before
having to disassemble the mantle and some of the masonry. Perhaps the
best part of the story was what this woman did in the meantime. She
flipped on all the lights and videotaped the whole thing. I don't know
what the two talked about while waiting for the police and company to
arrive, but had I been she, I think I would have hauled out a Bible and
given the crook a pointed reading of John 10: "Verily I tell you, anyone
who does not enter by the door but climbs in another way is a thief and
a robber!"

>When Satan Comes Calling
Key Bible Verse: We know how much God loves us, and we have put our
trust in him. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God
lives in them (1 John 4:16). Bonus Reading: 1 John 4:15-19
A stalwart believer who worked in the mines was injured at a young age
and became bed-ridden. Life passed him by.
When he was old, a young-er man visited. "I hear that you believe in
God," he said. "How can you with what's happened to you? Don't you
sometimes doubt God's love?"
"Yes," the old miner admitted. "Sometimes Satan sits by my bed where
you're sitting now. He points out my window to the strong, still-active
men I once worked with, and asks, 'Does Jesus love you?' Then he casts a
jeering glance around my tattered room, points to the fine homes of my
friends, and asks again, 'Does Jesus love you?' Finally Satan points to
the grandchild of a friend of mine—a man who has everything I don't—and
whispers, 'Does Jesus really love you?' "
"And what do you say?" asked the young man.
"In my mind," the old miner said, "I take Satan by the hand to Calvary.
There I point to the thorn-tortured brow, to the nail-pierced hands and
feet, and to the spear-wounded side. Then I ask Satan, 'Doesn't Jesus
love me?' "

The Crisis of a Closing Heart (By Ron Hutchcraft)
Fettuccini Alfredo! It's that great Italian dish that has buttered
noodles served in a rich, creamy cheese sauce. Unfortunately, one news
magazine in an article on nutrition and our health called it a "heart
attack on a plate." That may be a bit of an overstatement, but the fact
is that a lot of foods do contribute to the slow shutdown of the valves
that happen to carry the blood and oxygen into your heart. I love what
one commercial calls it -- blood sludge. Medical people refer to the
hardening of the arteries -- the process in which foods that are high in
cholesterol and fat start building up hard deposits in your arteries. If
this hardening in your heart is allowed to continue long enough, it is
not a laughing matter. It really can threaten your life.
I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "The
Crisis of a Closing Heart."
Hearts can harden physically and spiritually. It can become really
dangerous in the heart of any man or woman who is trying to make a
difference for Jesus Christ. It was Jesus' heart that motivated all He
did -- a heart that the Bible says was "moved with compassion when He
saw the multitudes." He was deeply moved. He saw them the Bible says, as
"threatened and helpless sheep without a shepherd." He wept over His
city Jerusalem because they wouldn't come to Him and the life He wanted
to give them. Paul was a model for all of us who want to serve Christ
when he revealed what drove him to suffer incredible pain and sacrifice
to tell people about Jesus. Our word for today from the Word of God is 2
Corinthians 5:14, "Christ's love compels us."
Not long ago I was told about a Rev. Gomez who is a pastor in one of
America's major cities. Often, he wouldn't come into the service until a
few minutes before his message. But this one particular Sunday, it came
time for the sermon and Rev. Gomez was not on the platform. A couple of
church leaders went to check his office, and there he was looking out
over the endless rows of apartments and houses that jammed their
depressed neighborhood. And he was weeping. One of the men who had come
looking for him said gently, "Pastor, I understand, you're weeping
because of the great needs all around us, aren't you?" "No," the pastor
told him, "I'm weeping because it doesn't move me like it used to."
That is cause for weeping. This servant of God realized that something
had happened to his heart. Like a person with hardening of the arteries,
his heart had started to close up -- to harden. Maybe yours is, too.
Like that physical hardening, it happens slowly and imperceptibly, but
the longer it goes unchecked, the more dangerous it becomes.
Most of us start serving the Lord with a healthy heart. We're moved by
the lostness of people who don't have a Savior. We realize the
life-or-death importance of getting to them with the message of Jesus.
Heaven and hell are at stake. And we come into the Lord's work with a
heart that's soft toward the pain and suffering and dysfunction that sin
is causing in lives all around us. We ask the Lord to use us to make a
difference, whatever it takes.
But for some of us, that healthy heart started to harden somewhere along
the way. With all the pressures, the politics, the disillusionments, the
programs, the conflicts, we can no longer say that it is this burning
love of Christ for the lost and hurting that drives us. What once was
passion has become profession. What once was a deep affair of the heart
has become an exercise of our head and our busy hands. And the joy, the
fire is going out -- or gone.
But the One who gave you that original piece of His heart wants to give
it to you again if you'll recognize the crisis of your closing heart and
tell your Master that you want His life-changing heart surgery -- to
open up what the deposits of the years have closed, and to give you a
new heart, throbbing with His love and His passion and His tears for the
lost. Without that, there ultimately is no life. Go to the Master Heart
Surgeon today and tell Him you want a heart like His.

...I recommend watching the movie RAMBO
"When goverments fail to act on behalf of captive missionaries,
Ex-green Beret John James Rambo sets aside his peaceful existence
to take action."
My son, Victor says this movie based on what is happening now, will
move you and get you to understand how great it is to be living in a
free country such as the United States. Also reminds us why we went
against Sadam when we got the chance. Most times we can only sit back
and watch with horror when people are being cruelly treated by evil
