Baker David glanced into the rearview mirror of his car, double-checked his makeup, and straightened his gawdy, polka-dot tie. "I really do look good!" he muttered and smiled at his reflection. With head held high, David strode across the parking lot to his workplace. He had rummaged through tables at Goodwill and visited garage sales to gather items for his perfectly coordinated outfit. Polyester slacks, in a large red, white, and blue check, were his favorite find. After a good spit-shine, his second-hand, navy and beige, wing-tip shoes looked like new, though he wished they fit a bit better. He feared by the end of the day he'd be crippled from blisters -- his red, orange and yellow striped socks weren't quite thick enough for comfort. "David! You look fantastic this morning." Obviously one co-worker approved of his attire as he'd barely walked through the door before she piped up. David politely tipped his red derby hat, exposing a shock of orange hair. "Thanks, Fran, and so do you. You should wear that shade of purple more often." They both chuckled. David stuck his thumbs under his suspenders and gave them a tug. Compliments from co-workers continued. David was all but giddy. Devon, Jerry, and David didn't have clients for another half hour, so they stepped into the mall smoking area. Soon the shop would buzz with folks and it might be afternoon before they'd have another smoke break. The three were puffing and chatting, when out of nowhere, she charged like a mad bull. "What are you doing?" screeched the young, shorthaired woman as she closed in on them. The three looked at one another and then at her -- they had not a clue what she wanted. With the stealth of a panther she pounced! David hit the tile floor face first. His red derby hat adorned with a yellow and orange band bounced to a stop several feet away. The attacker grabbed hold and stayed atop David. "What do you think you are doing?" What brought this on, David wondered. His pals stood paralyzed, their eyes enormous. He looked up at them -- why aren't they doing anything to get this crazed woman off of me? With an angry voice the wild woman began lobbing questions. "How long have you been a clown? "Uh, well since about 7:30 this morning," David snapped. Within moments a crowd had gathered. David struggled to get on his feet. Several people offered him a hand. Still, the strange attacker kept a tight grasp on one arm. "Are you a professional clown?" Her dark eyes were flashing. "No!" David spat. "Then where did you get that costume?" David explained he'd assembled his costume from a mishmash of items found at Goodwill. She looked skeptical, very skeptical! The livid female kept at it. "Who did your makeup? It looks too professional." "I did my own makeup, thank you! But, I'm not a professional clown if that's what you're driving at. The Regis Hair Salon dresses for Halloween each year and this year I'm a clown. Got it? We do it for fun." She continued her death grip on David's arm! "How many hours will you wear that clown suit today?" "I'll wear it until I'm finished with my customers and then we're going out to party! Now would you let go of me and leave me alone?" Glaring at the cigarette still on the floor, she loosened her grip and began to explain. "Look, I am a professional clown! Clowns do not smoke." She poked David in the chest with her forefinger and ordered, "Do not smoke while dressed like that! I mean it. Don't let me see you do it again." "Lady, don't poke me! I'm a clown for Halloween and that's all. If you are finished manhandling me, I'm going to work." As David walked toward the salon she gave him one more warning, "I don't want to see you smoking in that clown outfit again today!" The early morning assault left a damper on the usual Halloween merriment at the salon. As for David, the day had been downright ruined. The few smoke breaks he took were wrought with angst for he knew his assailant was lurking somewhere in the mall and might strike like a cobra at any moment. Constantly looking over his shoulder, he felt like a criminal on the run. He vowed to never again dress as a clown. In days to come David made it a point to learn about professional clowns. He found there is more to "clowning" than entertaining others with nonsensical fun. They adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and smoking is not tolerated when dressed "in clown." Still, he found little solace in their principles after being subjected to an attack on his person by a crazed woman. Strict Code of Ethics, indeed! An old song played incessantly in David's mind the rest of that horrid Halloween day, "Tears of a Clown"... -- Kathleene S. I was pleased he was actually for America instead of apologizing for America as President Obama had done over and over again. As if America was something to be ashamed of. Hardly! For example America is the most generous nation in the world, where its citizens give the most to charity and we also are the most kind hearted accepting more immigrants into our country than any other country does. At that time, we had protests and the white-supremacists and Antifa got into it at a particular nasty protest. During that time, I kept hearing the news calling the Nazi white-supremacists white-nationalists! I thought that was their way of tying Trump saying he was nationalist into the racist and hate of these violent groups. The members of the loosely organized antifa movement define “fascism” vaguely — to include not just Nazis and neo-Nazis but also white supremacists, white nationalists and the broader population of racists. Antifa we have learned is actually the rude and crude people who stage violent protests often wearing masks to disguise themselves as they know they are law breakers and not peaceful protesters. They even went against such groups as those who gather for prayer just because they call called it a 'Patriot Prayer' rally. Antifa appears to be against any one who supports Trump, the US flag, or this country. They are the facists! Anyone likening President Trump to Hitler or to white-supremacists either aren't too bright or they think we aren't too bright. After all, he is the most pro-Jew President we have had in years. He has supported Israel completely and even his son-in-law is Jewish. Pres. Trump sure doesn't sound like a Nazi or Hitler to me... 'Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivers remarks at the opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem thanking President Trump "for having the courage to keep your promises" and "for making the alliance between America and Israel stronger than ever." https://tinyurl.com/y7m7jq82 Here is Pres. Trump's recent comments about his love for America: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J9mhLRzWo0 So when the left started going ballistic over President Trump saying he loves America and that he is proud of being a nationalist. I looked it up: 'Nationalism' according to the Webster dictionary definition: 1 : loyalty and devotion to a nation especially They go on to define the difference between nationalism and patriotism: 'we define patriotism as “love for or devotion to one’s country” and nationalism in part as “loyalty and devotion to a nation.” But the definition of nationalism also includes “exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups.” This exclusionary aspect is not shared by patriotism. https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/patriotism-vs-nationalism ()__ ||**Z__ ||**|**=Z____ ||**|**=|====| ||==|**=|====| ||""|===|====| || `"""|====| jgs || `""""` So when President Trump says he is a nationalist. Then I say good! As the president of the Untied States of America, he needs to not only be a patriot for America but a nationalist too for America by exalting OUR nation above all others and promoting OUR culture and interests above those of other nations. That's making America Great again as he promised to do! That is what we want our leader, our President, to do for our country! I don't want him exalting Russia, or England, or Syria, or Australia or Israel or Germany or any country ABOVE our country! Hey, we made him President of America not President of the world! As he has said over and over again. He expects the other countries to hold THEIR country first in their priority just as he holds America first in his priority. That is only being real! No more foolish Obama 'for the world' stuff when a person has a country to run! He can think of what is best for the world but must always hold America first as President of America! Praise God for our patriotic nationalist President Trump! I pray God grant him the Republican victory he has been working so hard for with all his rallies for both the House And the Senate this November 6th Midterms through Christ Jesus our beloved Lord. For not only President Trump, but for the good of all of us God-loving citizens in America. The immediate staff response was, "Who? Tell us who and we'll get him right away." "I don't know his name... but I do know who he is. Whoever put the United States Navy back in the war in 1942 is the man I want. Find him!" was the Disney declaration. (For those of you who missed it, we lost most of our fleet in the early days of December 1941 at the beginning of World War II, and someone had masterminded the effort to make us competitive. By the end of the year 1942 we were afloat again, sailing into the Pacific, and winning the war.) The staff discovered the champion of that naval cause was Joe Fowler. Admiral Joe Fowler, fifty years old and retiring from the service. At first he declined the Disney invitation because he couldn't stand California and his wife hated mice. But he reconsidered to get the expense paid trip and time with his wife in exchange for one afternoon's listening to a foolhardy dream. But it only took that one afternoon in 1952 to catch the imagination and steal the heart of the Admiral... and he signed on for the project. He was the chief construction engineer for the twenty-five million dollar job. Twenty years later when Walt Disney wanted to open a sister theme park in Florida, retired Admiral Joe Fowler again was the was the boss of it all. A one hundred million dollar investment being managed by a 70 year old man. Ten years later... when EPCOT Center was planned on the Disney World property in Florida, guess who the chief construction engineer was. You're right... 80 year old Joe Fowler! Managing a project that would cost a thousand million dollars... that's a billion with a "B"! Eighty years old... this is the man who said, "You don't have to die until you're ready to die!" You understand that? If you have a dream... you can keep on going. Never, never stop stretching your soul. What made Walt Disney so secure in the leadership of Joe Fowler? Let this incident open the door of your understanding. If you have visited Disneyland in California, then you have seen the Pirates of the Caribbean, a white-knuckle ride down two waterfalls and then an exciting cruise through a pirate battle. The day before the ride was to open, Walt Disney took a preview tour. "This show can't open! It's not ready." The staff replied, "Ready? Of course it's ready! Everything is up to specifications and all the inspections are completed and passed." "It's still not ready," he insisted. "We have a bayou restaurant here and no fire-flies." It is impossible to have a bayou property without lightning bugs!" "What do you want us to do about that?" came the quick question. "I don't have any idea," Walt said. "Call Joe. He'll know." When Joe was contacted, he only had one question. Not "how many does he want?" or "how shall we suspend them?" or "does he want incandescent, florescent, or reflective light?" None of those questions. Walt Disney wants fire-flies? Joe Fowler asked only one question . . . You might even feel as if your life may crash about you and you will never again be healed, whole or happy. They say Robert Louis Stevenson told the story first. It's worth retelling: It seems a storm caught a seafaring vessel off a rocky coast. The wind and waves threatened to drive the boat to its destruction. In the midst of the terror, one daring passenger, contrary to orders, made his way across the ship. Groping along a passageway, he found the pilot house. There he beheld an intriguing sight; the ship's pilot was lashed to his post. Secure against the raging elements, he held the wheel fast, turning the ship, inch by inch, once more out to sea. The pilot saw the watcher and smiled. The daring passenger found his way below deck where other passengers huddled. Encouragingly, he said, "I have seen the face of the pilot, and he smiled. All is well." There are times we need to hear that. Especially when we feel tossed about by a raging storm, it helps to remember that the pilot smiles. He would personally supervise the work and only he would provide the money for its erection. The glory was to be his, and it was intended that by this means his name would be revered and remembered by successive generations. In fact, he forgot God in the matter altogether. In due course the church was finished. On its completion he commanded that a tablet be placed on the side of the building on which his name would be carved, together with the information that he was the sole builder and benefactor. The church was opened with great pomp and ceremony, and the king retired that night well pleased with himself. But that night he dreamed that an angel came down from heaven and erased his name from the tablet and put in its place that of a poor woman. When the king awoke next morning, he dismissed the dream from his mind. The next night he had the same dream. Again the angel erased his name from the tablet and replaced it with that of the poor woman. He awoke the next morning, irritated, but soon put it from his mind. The third night again the angel came, and again his name was removed and replaced with that of the poor woman. He arose next morning very angry and demanded that a search be carried out for a woman of that name. It was discovered that there was a poor woman of that name who lived on the side of the hill on which the church was built. He sent for her, and she came frightened into his presence. He demanded to know what she had done to spoil the glory of his work. She answered: "Sir, I love the Lord, and was pleased to see the church being built to His glory. I wanted to give something, but I knew your wish, so all I did was to give the horses some hay and water as they toiled up the hill with the building blocks. I did nothing more, Sir." Suddenly the king saw that an action so simple and full of love to God had done more to endow the building than all his money. She had done more for the glory of God with her handfuls of hay and water than he had done with his magnificent gifts. So that it might be a lesson to both himself and his people, he commanded that his name be erased from the tablet and the poor widow's name carved there instead. - Author Unknown -<>- >Links for Your Enjoyment: 90/10 Principle! http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/giving.html Lean On Me!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/poems/leanonme.html Dreamy Ladies!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/dreamy.html I Believe In You!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/ibelieveinyou.html Maxine On Jesus!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/maxineonjesus.html God's Night Lights!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/night.html Angel Wing Decoys!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/angel.html Jesus Laughing Art!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/Jesusart.html Salvation Mountain!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/salvation.html Playing With Words!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/wordplay.html I Believe!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/believe.html Let's Dance!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/dance.html Butchart Gardens!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/bgardens.html Angel Wing Decoys!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/angel.html Believe In Your Dreams!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/poems/dream.html Attitude Is Everything 4!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/attitude4.html Bible: Stretching For The Lord!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/BibleStudy/stretching.html Bible: God's Royal And Holy Priests!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/BibleStudy/royalpriests.html Bible Study: Our Valuable Anchor!- http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/BibleStudy/ouranchor.html Fall And Halloween Index http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/halloweenindex.html -<>- Some of Shangrala's Best Pages http://www.amazafamily.com/index.html -<>- EmergencyEmail: - New RECALLS Of Consumer Products: https://tinyurl.com/y9met22d O Lord How Long Must I Wait? https://tinyurl.com/y7un3ojh Amazing Love (You Are My King) - Hillsong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avJ4lDnZWRU HOLY,HOLY,HOLY LORD GOD ALMIGHTY/MICHAEL W SMITH https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AK0pT-pglLA Blessed Be Your Name https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=du0il6d-DAk The Devil's Beatitudes http://www.angelfire.com/tx3/jesuslovesyou/devilbeatitudes.html A Friend http://www.angelfire.com/me2/judyb/afriend.html "Thoughts Before Me" http://www.angelfire.com/la2/omb/thoughts.html Trump Administration Launches Program for Moms, Babies with Opioid Withdrawal https://tinyurl.com/y9gypphu In The Daily Signal, Fred Lucas writes that a new report from the White House Council of Economic Advisers provides a glimpse into how the U.S. economy would crumble under socialist policies. “The study found that if Medicare-for-all were financed out of current federal spending—without additional borrowing or tax increases—it would eat up more than half of the entire federal budget.” https://tinyurl.com/y8g9dsls “Homeland Security officials said Tuesday that among the thousands of migrants heading for the United States border are some ‘gang members’ and people with ‘significant criminal histories,’” Paulina Dedaj reports for Fox News. Now, a growing number of Democrats are wearing the label as a badge of honor. https://www.whitehouse.gov/1600daily/ From Students For Life: A short inspirational video from one of our Regional Coordinators, Christina Herrera. "No", I said quietly, "I just can't do it". Before our confrontation generated court-martial threats, the squad commander called him aside. Returning, he read off, "Abramovitz, Guri... get on the truck to main camp". "Consider yourself lucky", he said as I passed. Sitting on the hard truck bench, I pondered my predicament. I had looked forward to fulfilling my patriotic duty, even daydreamed of glory and machismo. Then a freak accident broke both wrists and injured my back. At preliminary induction, two months before boot camp, both my hands were in casts. "Don't worry," they said, "first week of boot camp everyone's re-evaluated". Filled with motivation to serve my country as a combat soldier, I hoped to heal completely before final induction. At re-evaluation my profile adjusted downwards only slightly; I was still labeled combat-fit. For days I ran around with the other fresh-faced inductees, determined to make it. When I put on my fully-loaded battledress, an immediate deep pain seared my back. The medic temporarily excused me from wearing loads. Thus began the humiliating process of medical appeals. 75 days and several medical committees later I was still in the combat-fit platoon, doing kitchen patrol and guarding tents -- and being called "a shirker". Then I slept without my gun strapped to me, and an officer had "stolen" it, an offense for which I knew a court-martial was probably waiting. That week the sergeant told me to report to the clinic doctor, then to the camp commandant's office -- no doubt for the court-martial. Sitting at the clinic I steeled myself for a stint in the brig. "Abramovitz?" I heard from the doctor's office. "So, you're the famous Abramovitz. Have a seat", he said. "Your case was reviewed by the public ombudsman from your mother's appeal, but I can't understand the medical committees' decisions." "Back injuries automatically are non-combat-fit for a year from date of injury. I'll write my diagnosis and recommendation. You'll report to the medical committee at Haifa". I discussed my orders to the commandant's office, likely for a court-martial, and "besides, I can't travel in a work uniform". "I will order you hospitalized in my clinic tonight, tomorrow I'll send you out of the camp on a special pass, including a permit to travel in your work uniform". Most army authorities I encountered represented the "rules and regulations army". Even if they understood my injuries, they wouldn't stick their necks out on my behalf. The doctor acted independently, human-ly in the midst of a dehumanizing system. He could have written his diagnosis and recommendation and sent me along, leaving me to deal with "the system" by myself. Instead, he circumvented my court-martial. The rest of my uneventful army service was completed in a non-combat fit job. Both results, I owe to the doctor who refused to accept the influence of the atmosphere around him... and instead acted according to what he believed to be right. =======HeroicStories======= >-->From LaughAndLift: "The Bible is to be read as if written expressly for you." - A. Have you been struggling and planning, worrying and sweating, crying and running at a furious pace, trying to move that mountain by yourself again? God asks that you "cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you" *(1 Peter 5:7)*. Think about what your worrying says to God when you refuse to give things over to Him. When you worry about money, you're telling Him that He is unable to provide for His children, that although He has riches beyond belief in heaven, He is too stingy to share them with you. When you worry that no one understands you, you're telling Him that although He has been with you since before you were formed in the womb and has carved you into the palm of His hand, He doesn't know you. When you worry that you will not have enough food, you're telling Him that although He rained down bread from heaven in the desert to feed His children, you are the one He's forgotten. When you worry that your enemies will have victory over you, you're telling God that, although He has given you spiritual battle gear to defend yourself, that despite His track record of being a giant slayer, a Red Sea divider, a lion mouth closer, and a furnace cooler, He can't handle your co-worker, your neighbor, your former friend. When you worry that your children have decided to follow the world instead of your example, you're telling God that He doesn't keep His promises, that, despite the fact that you have raised them up in the way they should go, they'll stray because, basically, He lied. When you worry because the doctors told you that children are impossible, that a cure is impossible, that healing is impossible, you're telling Him that this world controls your fate. You're saying that prayer time with Him is merely something to pass the time. You're saying that although He can raise the dead, make a virgin conceive, open the womb of a woman well past eighty, heal a 12 year issue of blood, make the blind see, and the lame walk, He can't help you. When you worry that you won't be able to do enough to earn forgiveness, you're telling Him, "That's okay, Lord; no need for Your Son to die, I can earn my own forgiveness." You're acting like Jesus never died, or like there was no need for Him to go to the cross. When you worry that no one will love you, that you'll be lonely for the rest of your life, you're telling Him that His love is insufficient. You're also saying that, although He has promised life more abundantly, He was lying, that despite the fact that He started off saying that it is not good that we be alone, He's changed His mind. When you worry and refuse to give the problem over to Him, you're telling Him that although He could create the world, He can't handle what's going on in your world, so *you* will. You are saying that He won't work things out, that obstacles cannot be overcome, that mountains can't be climbed, that healing cannot occur, that what is lost will not be found, that joy does not come in the morning, that He is not the God of a second chance, that the promised land has been swallowed up by the desert, and that you have explored the height, depth and width of His love and found it to fall short of your needs. Think about all that you're saying to the one who loves you the most and who has all power. Really think about it. Then open your hands and release what you've been holding onto. Bow down on your knees and ask Him to forgive you for doubting Him. Walk away with a peaceful heart and note the footprints that go before you to straighten the crooked places, prepare a way in the wilderness and make water spring forth in the desert. "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10) Prayer: Heavenly Father, forgive my nearsighted nature and pride. That is You around the bend, Lord; how could I not see You? How could I not trust You? Let me tell you, Jesus, all that is on my mind. I'm tired of standing in the rain. Allow me to find shelter under Your wings. My list of worries is long but so is Your patience. Allow me to begin... He was wandering home from Sunday School, and dawdling on the way. He scuffed his shoes into the grass; he found a caterpillar. He found a fluffy milkweed pod, and blew out all the "filler". A bird's nest in a tree overhead, so wisely placed on high, Was just another wonder that caught his eager eye. A neighbor watched his zig zag course, and hailed him from the lawn, Asked him where he'd been that day and what was going on. "I've been to Bible School," he said and turned a piece of sod. He picked up a wiggly worm replying, "I've learned a lot of God." "M'm very fine way," the neighbor said, "for a boy to spend his time." "If you'll tell me where God is, I'll give you a brand new dime." Quick as a flash the answer came! Nor were his accents faint.
