I'm not sure how Ken and I managed it, but the good Lord must have lent a hand as we empty nested in tolerable stages. Our son was born six years ahead of our daughters who are two years apart. Dad and son had close years with all their guy stuff, while the girls and I did perpetual tea parties, dance, and Girl Scouts. After a little arm-twisting and greasing of the palm, our son became a built-in baby sitter of sorts. No more packing a half-asleep sitter into the car and driving her across town at 2am. The day came when our son, his mini fridge, and his truck went off to college, followed by a stint in the service. But for two smart and spirited teenyboppers keeping us on our toes, we'd have been as homesick for him, as he was for us. Only two grades apart, the girls savored their own special friends. Sports and cheerleading became their lives as they too sailed right past us, but always saving Sunday for family fun. Then suddenly, no more relaxing on Saturdays with pancakes in the shape of bunnies and bears, or giggly campouts in the backyard playhouse. No more carpools with a half dozen dusty ball players, their bags, and overflowing Slurpies. No more freaky music that fairly rocked the house off its moorings, endless practicing the right moves in the family room, and hours of clandestine phone calls. When the oldest daughter hit the college dorms, I looked forward to less laundry, although the question became debatable. We may have been part-time empty nesters but for her big laundry bag appearing in our hallway more often than not. And along with the laundry, the grocery bill hit the ceiling after numerous weekends of roommates and college chums rolling out in sleeping bags upstairs and down. The last one graduated college, got married and cast off to new horizons as we waved and threw weepy kisses. Ken and I looked at each other like strangers, barely knowing how to act in the sobering silence of our big deserted house. They had grown up, giving pleasure to replace any pain of their teen years. That made it all so worthwhile. No laying in bed at all hours wondering if they were just late, or bloody and broken on a snowy highway somewhere. And who's going to think we're not cool if we flop into bed by ten for a good night's sleep for a change? It was soon apparent that nobody was handy to help with yard chores and the job I abhorred most, washing a thousand windows. Ken was great about the yard, but claimed the windows were strictly woman's work. Rattling about, living with empty rooms crying out for growth and fun, even tempestuous moments and raging hormones, we kicked our traces. I took the bull by the horns, called our realtor, and viewed a glorious piece of wooded and streamed acres teeming with wildlife. We had talked often about a log home in the mountains only twenty minutes from town. So we did it. We were now land owners in our own paradise. The old house in town sold with grand memories and no regrets. I drew plans, the logs were ordered, and suddenly along came our brood with their campers on more weekends than we could count to help with the rise. Today we sit and rock in front of the fireplace on two-dog winter nights, swapping our times back and forth, still loving this new lifestyle while flipping a bunny pancake over for one of the grandchildren. We sometimes yearn for the sleepless nights worrying when the children were out, only now it's our backs and knees that are out. We miss those magnificent beings we so lovingly shaped and molded into success stories, for not long ago I heard our youngest daughter remark, "I have every intention of raising my kids just as I was raised." That just may say it all! -- Kathe Campbell __________________________________________________ Kathe lives her dream on a Montana mountain with her mammoth donkeys, a Keeshond, and a few kitties. But Brielle, born ... only 2 lbs, had trouble breathing, heart problems and other complications. She was not expected to live. Their nurse did everything she could to make Brielle’s health better, but nothing she did was helping her. With nothing else to do, their nurse went against hospital policy and decided to place both babies in the same incubator. She left the twin girls to sleep and when when she returned she found a sight she could not believe. She called all the nurses and doctors and this is what they saw. As Brielle got closer to her sister, Kyrie put her small little arm around her, as if to hug and support her sister. NASA has mapped out a timeline of our Universe. Guess what they found? They went all the way back in time to when all there was was nothing but white light. Check out their image here: https://map.gsfc.nasa.gov/media/060915/index.html Now looking at the image, we read in the bible... Gen.1: [1] In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. See how tremendous God is? That is why God told us... Eph.3: [20] Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Just take it little by little - look at the NASA map and see why this verse is a mind blower. God created the heavens and the earth. He is that bright white light. By His power all that exists is. Without His power, we are nothing and have nothing. Do you doubt His ability to help you? Do you see why He is ABLE to Do EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY ABOVE all that you might ask of Him or even THINK (imagine) Him to do for you? Yes, our God is most Awesome! Indeed! Now, think about this. I often thought of our Lord Jesus and all the pain and humility He had to suffer when they crucified Him. I tear up thinking of all the abuse that He willingly went through for each one of us. Yet, what always got me, was what he said as he was dying an excruciatingly painful death at the hands of so many he had once helped and lived among. Remember what Jesus said as he was dying on the cross? Luke 23: [34a] Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. Amazing to me that his heart and love for people was so great that he would not want to hold them accountable for this evil deed. I was thinking about this last night as it boggled my mind. I so want to do as the Word says... Phil.2: [5] Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Yet, I couldn't get past this part. How do you forgive those who have gravely done you wrong and haven't even asked you to forgive them? Even God requires us to ask for forgiveness. Yet Jesus asked God to forgive these people who mocked, betrayed, tortured and murdered him in front of his whole family and friends. Wow. Then it dawned on me. Put yourself in their position. If you believed that Jesus was the only begotten son of the most high God who created the entire universe, would you lay a hand on him and do what these people did? Of course not! Remember what the bible tells us? 'In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. – II Corinthians 4: 4 Jesus said - Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. Why? Because the devil blinded their minds! So Jesus understood that the one to be held accountable for such an evil act was the devil, not the ones that the devil had blinded. It is easier to understand the folly of people when you realize who the puppet master behind them is. They are being controlled. Just another awesome truth to keep in mind. Speaking of how great God is. When you look at Him and what He does and His timing for doing it, you realize He has everything perfectly created and timed out. Think about this. Without Jesus Christ willing to be God's sacrificial lamb for mankind, there would be no reason for creation. Why create the entire heaven and earth if in the end, you would not have children who awed, loved and worshiped you? Without Jesus Christ, mankind was doomed and God would not have the children He so desired. No reason. God in His foreknowledge has everything perfectly planned out. You doubt it? Look at that NASA map again. We are talking billions of planets - huge solar systems... see this: Earth In Perspective http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/earth2.html Now think of how God planned Every living thing. We each have what we call DNA - which is actually a detailed program of exactly how our entire body is to be put together and work together - it says if you will have blue eyes or brown eyes etc. Not only humans, but we now know every living thing, even plants, have their own unique DNA (program). In other words, God planned each and every single thing out and didn't leave ANYTHING to chance. It is all completely designed by God. He is THE CREATOR! Pretty awesome huh? :) =============================================================== >-->From Archives InspiredBuffalo: | \ ' / '-. | .-' --= --|-- =-- _. | ._ ' __|__ ' d88888b In your times of deep despair, Do you feel there is no hope? He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again. So, he goes over to the dog and notices he has a note in his mouth. He takes the note and it reads "Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please. The dog has money in his mouth, as well." The butcher looks inside and, lo and behold, there is a ten dollar Note there. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog's mouth. The butcher is so impressed, and since it's about closing time, he decides to shut up shop and follow the dog. So off he goes. The dog is walking down the street when he comes To a level crossing. The dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button. Then he waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and he walks across the road, with the butcher following him all the way. The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable. The butcher is in awe at this stage. The dog checks out the times, and then sits on one of the seats provided. Along comes a bus. The dog walks around to the front, looks at the number, and goes back to his seat. Another bus comes. Again the dog goes and looks at the number, notices it's the right bus, and climbs on. The butcher, by now, open- mouthed, follows him onto the bus. The bus travels through the town and out into the suburbs, the dog Looking at the scenery. Eventually he gets up, and moves to the front of the bus. He stands on 2 back paws and pushes the button to stop the bus. Then he gets off, his groceries still in his mouth. Well, dog and butcher are walking along the road, and then the dog turns into a house. He walks up the path, and drops the groceries on the step. Then he walks back down the path, takes a big run, and throws himself against the door. He goes back down the path, runs up to the door and again, it throws himself against it. There's no answer at the house, so the dog goes back down the path, jumps up on a narrow wall, and walks along the perimeter of the garden. He gets to the window, and beats his head against it several times, walks back, jumps off, and waits at the door. The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog, kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him. The butcher runs up, and stops the guy. "What in heaven's name are You doing? The dog is a genius. He could be on TV, for the life of me!" to which the guy responds: "You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this stupid dog's forgotten his key." Reflection: Looks like some, people will never be satisfied with what they've got. When it comes to the work place, Employers do not know how to appreciate their people who have served them loyally through the years. I've seen companies lose good people for the simple fact their leaders failed to show appreciation. Employers with big egos enjoy the fact that they have more power and authority than others. They show, in the way they give orders and directions, that they think they are superior. They get a kick out of displaying this superiority. People who do this are fools, and everyone but them knows it. They are never satisfied because they could not be satisfied even if their people perform well. They don't listen to the opinion and ideas of their subordinates. Why? Because of their stupid pride and insecurity. People of this kind will never be satisfied. Why? Because they are so busy wrapped up in themselves and, fact is, the self can never be satisfied. Happy and productive people are always those who are "others-centered" rather than "self- centered." The greatest idea of leadership is not someone who throws his weight around. Rather, he is a servant. As Bible would say, "He who wish to be a leader should first be a servant." His joy is derived from delivering a job that others benefit from his contribution. Aim for service and success will follow. -<>- . | . \ ' / '-. | .-' --= --|-- =-- _. _|_ | _|_ ._ ' _|__|__|_ ' ____/HEISRISEN\_____ >HOPE, CHARITY, LOVE, FAITH, and GRACE. Bill Walker wildbill6807@yahoo.com All small words, each is related or goes hand in hand with the others. Makes very little difference in anything in life we do. If you stop and think about any part of your life. These five words play a great part in the end. It makes no difference what you have, or how little you have. You deal with these five words every day. From the day you bounced into this world, till the day you drop out. I started out thinking I would use these five words about the Bible. We could you know. May wind up on that note. We also can use them for every day life. So I will do a little of both. That is the Bible and every day life. HOPE: Anything you do, you have a hope it will work. There must be a reason for you doing something. You have hopes the day will be a good one. I hear that so much any more. "Have a good day." Do you need a bad day? You hope today will be a good day From the day one of your life to the very last day, there is that hope. As long as you breath, there is hope. When you stop, there is none. The doctor can C.P.R. you forever. As long as you're not breathing, there is little if any hope. CHARITY: The world also runs on that. Even the very rich depends on charity. You see if you stop and think about it. If the poorer crowd got together, they could take the very rich and powerful down a peg or two. History is full of that. Remember the French up starts taking down the King and Queen. I do. I remember the poor starving for a loaf of bread. The Queen said. "They have no bread, that is a shame, let them eat cake." How about later times? The people of Russia was in the same fix in and before World War One. I know maybe this is far out. It still is something to do with charity. We live by charity of others. You can be mean to others, no charity there. You can be kind, it is a form of charity. The Queen could have said, "They need bread King, open the store house." That would have been charity. The mob could have said, let the King and Queen live, don't lop off their head. That too would have been charity. LOVE: I have been told by more then one of the Dollies, there is different kinds of love. I thought there was one. Guess I'm wrong. Dollies love to get a gift. You're an angel. Some will be happy with a GrandMa Fruit Cake. Others tell you no more of those things. I guess one loved fruit cake, the other sees no love at all. I know some say they love the car, the house, the ring they had planted on little pinkie. I even remember one falling in love with a silly looking frock one evening. Just had to have it. I guess there is different kinds of love. I was thinking yesterday about Tinker, my little dog. I remember his love. I could turn the A/C on. He would walk to an air vent. Pile down, I got a look and to me it seem like he had a grin and the look of love in his eyes. I wonder was it me he loved for turning on the air, or was it the cool air. I think I know. I have seen many acts of love. One is when you help someone in need of help. Yes I call that some kind of love. Love for your brother or sister in this walk of life. You made their day better, and you felt good about it. You married the one you call husband or wife. There must have been a bit of love at that time. I hoped it grew into a never ending love for one another. This other kind of thing called same s%&, I don't think much of that. I happen to be a boy, looking for a walking talking Dollie. Of course I hear some Dollies never shut off the talking, about all you get to say after they get the ring, is . "Yes Dear, No Dear." And God help you if you get messed up, and say the wrong yes or no at times. And for goodness sake never say the wrong name. I know all about that bone head deal, first hand. So much for love. FAITH You put you trust in something or someone. That is faith. I have trust, faith that I can do something. You have the same. You have faith and trust your team will win. That is till the score is 62 to 24. Your team is the one on low end, and have 30 seconds to play in the game. You see your coach standing on the sidelines ripping his cap off and throwing it on the ground, saying words of no print here, and crying Gator tears. I just had to get that in. Sorry Gator. We deal in trust and faith every day. We trust, and have faith in the doctor, else we find one that we do. We have trust and faith in the old clunker. it will start and get us down the road. When it bulks, we shop for repairs, or get a new clunker. We get kind of like the old cat. Darn it all. The good times is over, we walk away looking for a better deal. We lost trust and faith in that old bucket of bolts. We have faith something is going to happen, to make our day a good day. GRACE: Last, sure not the least. Maybe the most important one word of the lot. I often wonder, about this word. What is grace? Are you graced because you have fine clothes, food, car, boat, plane, train, motor home, a wife, a couple girl friends on the side. I put train in as a laugh. That could be next thing one must have. Are you living in grace because you have little? I know and have heard of many who have little and they are happy. They have a happy home, may be a poor home, They enjoy things they do have. They live a simple life. Maybe they never get to the other side of the mountain. But their happy with the side their on. Maybe it is by grace they have what they have.. They have something called happy times. While the other fellow has to worry about wife finding out about the two girl friends. Maybe she has a small problem too. She tramping also.. They have no happy times other then what looks great to others. So maybe it is the ones on the lower end of things that has the most blessings and grace. Maybe in the end they keep their heads. Someday they too will eat at the big table, with the master. I remember reading about a man who asked for a lot. He asked, never got what he asked for. His last lines was he was most richly blessed. I think that is called GRACE. I have read about a man who also had very little while here on earth. He was/is the most important man to ever walk on this earth. God's HOPE, CHARITY, LOVE, FAITH, and GRACE sent him to do a job. You see I believe God has hope yet for you and I. He also has much in the way of charity for you and I. He still has love for you and I. He has faith that you and I will do as he has asked us to do. Grace, again last, sure not least. It all boils down to by his grace. We have what we need. It takes all of those words. HOPE, CHARITY, LOVE, FAITH, and GRACE in this life. -<>- >Links for Your Enjoyment: One Word Essay http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/essay.html For The Joy http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/BibleStudy/joy.html More Abundant Life http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/abundantlife.html Salvation Mountain http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/salvation.html Who Is This Jesus? http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/jesus.html Under His Wings http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/wings.html Beaker The Duck http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/beakertheduck.html Snowflake The Duck http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/snowflaketheduck.html Maria The Goose http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/goose.html World's Largest Bunny http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/bunny.html Spring In The Netherlands http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/netherlands.html Full Easter Index http://www.shangralafamilyfun.com/easterindex.html -<>- >Please Visit/Follow Me On StumbleUpon: https://tinyurl.com/y8qxhy3w Some of Shangrala's Best Pages http://www.amazfamily.com/index.html -<>- The Day Jesus Christ Died http://www.absolutebiblestudy.com/Advanced/The_Day_Jesus_Christ_Died.htm The Four Crucified With Christ https://tinyurl.com/yab68axa The Exact Right Moment in Time https://tinyurl.com/yd3wfnt4 -<>- >From TruthOrTradition: Covenants and Dispensations Growing up, I was fascinated with science, especially with the way the human body worked. My interpretation of this is that every day we should strive to be the best that we can be in all areas of life. Even on days when you are struggling, it is important to remember that it just takes a positive attitude to turn things around for the better. My dad took me to my first Green Bay Packers game when I was eight years old. At the time, I really did not know much about football other than it was a tough guy's sport. All I knew was that the Packers were playing the Cincinnati Bengals and that the Packers were not a very good team. The had lost all previous games in that season and it had been years since the Packers had a winning season. The year was 1992 and I was astonished at the atmosphere and crowd of being at a football game. I thought that it was the coolest thing. On one particular play, the packers quarterback Don Majowski hurt his ankle and had to leave the game. I remember a negative comment from a nearby fan who stated that the Packers had no chance of winning now. Out stepped the Packers back up quarterback Brett Favre. The beginning of the game did not go well for Favre and he ended up fumbling the ball four times and getting sacked often. Despite the fact the he was struggling, Favre kept the team in the game and they were down by six points with less than a minute to go in the game. Favre had the ball and threw a long pass to Sterling Sharpe. Then, with eight seconds to go, Favre threw the winning touchdown to wide receiver Kitrick Taylor. The crowd went wild! Favre ran around the field celebrating, and first year coach Mike Holmgren was as happy as could be. The Packers carried on that momentum for the rest of the season and just missed the playoffs at 9-7. Even though they missed the playoffs that year, the 1992 season was a special season for the Green Bay Packers. It marked the beginning of the Brett Favre era and also the start of a dynasty in which the team would win the Super Bowl in 1996. From that 1992 game forward, Favre began the longest consecutive starts streak for a quarterback in NFL history. As a Packers fan, I have witnessed many up and down seasons since then, but this game helps instill a special memory -- a memory so powerful that I feel like a turn for the better can happen anytime. Who would have ever thought that game would have ended the way that it did? And who would have thought that a great NFL quarterback and team would have been born on that day? -- Ben Mueller --- ...Excellent Story and Advice! Thanks Fran! ========================================================== .-. __| |__ [__ __] | | | | jgs | | '-' >Modern Chivalry Story Editor: by The Mom Joyce Schowalter USA I'm close to 40, raised old fashioned, and frequently mourn the loss of a time when people took care of one another. I wonder if my three sons will be the gentlemen I try to raise them to be. Mid October, 2010 I had to get my youngest son from school drama practice. I buckled my daughter in her car seat and took off like a herd of turtles. First stop: the closest air pump as I had a tire going flat. I filled the tire with my last dollar. Once out of the gas station, POP!, the van jerked, then thump, thump, thump. Sigh. The tire is 100% flat and I'm out of cash. OK, I can change a tire. However... the l'il one has been sick since she was born and when she's *this* sick, I can't leave her unattended beyond a couple minutes. I have to be ready to assist her with any problems. AAA phone call done, I wait for my temporary champion in a tow truck and grease-smeared hands to help change the flat. I call my son and husband to inform them of the delay. I put the cell down and get scared half to death: someone is beating on my window. It's a young African American man. I freak because where I'm broke down is not the best place for safety. He asks if I need help. I nervously told him I have assistance coming. The area -- not the person -- made me nervous, he was well-mannered and polite. His response, "Yeah, but I'm here NOW!" I took all the factors into consideration. Sick child, another child stranded, husband working too far away to help, van on a busy street, still half an hour wait for AAA. I thanked him and told him I couldn't afford to pay him. He chortled and told me he didn't ask for money. Together we worked to replace the tire with the spare. He did the majority of it, since I had to watch my daughter. In under 15 minutes he had me ready to drive. When I asked him his name, he said Tracey. I thanked him appreciatively for the help he had given. He walked off before I could say anything else. I passed him a minute later, and waved thank you again as he smiled and waved back. I seriously thought chivalry was dead. Here a young man, young enough to be my son, stopped to help a complete stranger out of the blue, for no reason at all. Now I know I might not ever get to tell Tracey's family they should be proud of their boy. But I can put this story out there, in hopes it might reach them. I can be grateful for Tracey showing me something I needed to learn, and giving me a little more hope about today's young men. Thank you, Tracey, your actions meant a great deal to me. =======HeroicStories======= >-->From Our Friends Geniann And Linda :) 88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 888888888 888 8 8 8 8 888 888888888 888888888 888 8 888 8 888 8 888 88 8 8888888888 888888888 8 8 8 888 88888888888 888888888 888 8 888 8 88888 8888888 88888888888 888888888 888 8 888 8 88888 8888888 88888888888 88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 888888 8 88 8 8 8 888888 888888 88888 888 8 888888 888 88888 888 888888 888888 888 888 8888 888 8888 888888 888888 88888 888 88888 888 888 88888 88 8888888 888888 8 888 8 8888 888 8 888 888888 88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 8JGS8888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 >Who'll Take The Son? A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together and admire the great works of art.. When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son. About a month later, just before Christmas, There was a knock at the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands.. He said, 'Sir, you don't know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart and he died instantly... He often talked about you, and your love for art.' The young man held out this package. 'I know this isn't much. I'm not really a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this.' The father opened the package. It was a portrait of his son, painted by the young man. He stared in awe at the way the soldier had captured the personality of his son in the painting. The father was so drawn to the eyes that his own eyes welled up with tears. He thanked the young man and offered to pay him for the picture.. 'Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It's a gift.' The father hung the portrait over his mantle. Every time visitors came to his home he took them to see the portrait of his son before he showed them any of the other great works he had collected. The man died a few months later. There was to be a great auction of his paintings. Many influential people gathered, excited over seeing the great paintings and having an opportunity to purchase one for their collection. On the platform sat the painting of the son. The auctioneer pounded his gavel. 'We will start the bidding with this picture of the son. Who will bid for this picture?' There was silence... Then a voice in the back of the room shouted, 'We want to see the famous paintings. Skip this one.' But the auctioneer persisted 'Will somebody bid for this painting? Who will start the bidding? $100, $200?' Another voice angrily. 'We didn't come to see this painting. We came to see the Van Gogh's, the Rembrandts. Get on with the Real bids!' But still the auctioneer continued. 'The son! The son! Who'll take the son?' Finally, a voice came from the very back of the room. It was the longtime gardener of the man and his son. 'I'll give $10 for the painting...' Being a poor man, it was all he could afford. 'We have $10, who will bid $20?' 'Give it to him for $10. Let's see the masters.' The crowd was becoming angry. They didn't want the picture of the son. They wanted the more worthy investments for their collections. The auctioneer pounded the gavel.. 'Going once, twice, SOLD for $10!' A man sitting on the second row shouted, 'Now let's get on with the collection!' The auctioneer laid down his gavel. 'I'm sorry, the auction is over.' 'What about the paintings?' 'I am sorry. When I was called to conduct this auction, I was told of a secret stipulation in the will... I was not allowed to reveal that stipulation until this time. Only the painting of the son would be auctioned. Whoever bought that painting would inherit the entire estate, including the paintings. The man who took the son gets everything!' God gave His son over 2,000 years ago to die on the Cross. Much like the auctioneer, His message today is: 'The Son, the Son, who'll take the Son?' Because, you see, whoever takes the Son gets everything! (Psalms 51:12, NKJV) Joy, a word derived from the Greek word gethein, meaning to rejoice with total bliss. Isaiah 12:3 says "therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation." So many times, even those of us who are saved, get wrapped up in situations and circumstances. We fall and try on our own to get out of sin's grip. We forget that the Christian life is not supposed to be burdensome. Jesus knew that we would have troubles. This is why He told us in Matthew 11:28-30 to come to Him when we are hurting and burdened and He will give us rest. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to leave our worries with Him because He cares for us. The past couple of weeks, an amazing transformation has been happening in my life. I have been rediscovering the pleasure of knowing what it means to be loved by our Creator. Too often, we miss out on blessings because we give up on God's plan just before it is revealed to us, and seek our own way. I was ready to quit my job. Last week, I received a promotion. I've seen how so many times, I've been willing to give up, when God was in the middle of doing something great. Isn't that the way we all are sometimes? Christianity is not supposed to be a rigorous and stressful religion where we follow a bunch of do's and dont's. It is a personal relationship with a loving God who wants to give us direction in life for our benefit. By living in obedience to Christ, we find joy that is beyond any happiness we could ever experience. I pray that all of you will experience this joy and the peace of Jesus in your lives this week. -<>- .======. | INRI | | | .========' '========. | _ xxxx _ | | /_;-.__ / _\ _.-;_\ | | `-._`'`_/'`.-' | '========.`\ /`========' | | / | |/-.( | |\_._\ | | \ \`;| | > |/| | / // | | |// | | \(\ | | `` | | | \\jgs _ _\\| \// |//_ _ \// _ ^ `^`^ ^`` `^ ^` ``^^` `^^` `^ `^ The great Easter truth is not [only] that we are to live newly after death...but that we are to be new here and now by the power of the Resurrection." - Phillips Brooks >RESURRECT (by Debbie Preuss, March 16, 2005) Lord, in my life, are places that are dead They sprang up and grew, but they were never fed Things that were good, that I wanted to do Even places where I longed, to be more like You In this time of resurrection, oh my Lord I pray That You would resurrect me, to follow in Your way Bring life to the dead places, make me more like You To the dry and barren places, bring Your life anew Breathe on me, bring me life, awaken what was dead Oh my Heavenly Father, lift up my weary head Renew Your life in me, oh Lord please hear my cry Bring life back to the places, I allowed to die Refresh my life in You oh Lord, plant me like a tree So I may be strong, and faithful only unto Thee Re-light the fire once so bright, that now has become dark Move Your spirit over me, Lord renew my heart Pour Your water over me, bring Your life anew Resurrect the dead places, make me more like You -<>- >Note from Chris Happy Easter! :) Because Christ is risen, not only can we rise to be with Him for all eternity, but His resurrection life actually is available to us today - not just in our spirit but in our soul and body as well. This part of the "gospel" is oft-overlooked, but we have the power of God living on the inside of us. Romans 8:11 says "If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you." (ESV). That's a mighty spectacular Scripture. I pray that on this Easter day, Christ's resurrection would be more to you than just an event that happened with little relevance to your here-and-now living, but that the newness of life that we have in Christ - precisely BECAUSE He was raised from the dead - would permeate your entire being - body, soul, spirit. What areas of your life do you need "resurrected" today? You've got the resurrection power of God dwelling on the inside of you. Let's mix our faith with that power and see God do some incredible things, Amen? I could not see my need for Him, My pride would not allow. I had it all, without a care, The "self-sufficient" lie. My path was smooth, my sea was still, Not a cloud was in my sky. I thought I knew His love for me, I thought I'd seen His grace. I thought I did not need to grow, I thought I'd found my place. But when the way grew rough and dark, The storm clouds quickly rolled; The waves began to rock my ship, My anchor would not hold. The ship that I had built myself Was made of foolish pride. It fell apart and left me bare, With nowhere else to hide. I had no strength or faith to face The trials that lay ahead, And so I simply prayed to Him And bowed my weary head. His loving arms enveloped me, And then He helped me stand. He said, "You still must face this storm, But I will hold your hand." So through the dark and lonely night He guided me through pain. I could not see the light of day Or when the storm might wane. Yet through the aches and endless tears, My faith began to grow. I could not see it at the time, But my light began to glow. I saw God's love in brand new light, His grace and mercy, too. For only when all self was gone Could Jesus' love shine through. It was not easy in the storm, I sometimes wondered, "Why?" At times I thought, "I can't go on." I'd hurt and doubt and cry. But Jesus never left my side, He guided me each day. Through pain and strife, Through fire and flood, He helped me all the way. And now I see as never before How great His love can be. How in my weakness He is strong, How Jesus cares for me! He worked it all out for my good, Although the way was rough. He only sent what I could bear, And then He cried, "Enough!" He raised His hand and said, "Be still!" He made the storm clouds cease. He opened up the gates of joy And flooded me with peace. I see His face now clearer still, I felt His presence strong. I found anew His faithfulness, He never did me wrong. Now I know more storms will come, But only for my good, For pain and tears have helped me grow As naught else ever could. I still have so much more to learn As Jesus works in me; If in the storm I'll love Him more, That's where I want to be. Written By: Wendy Greiner Lefko --- ...Beautiful!
