>-------> CANDY LASSES COOKIES <-------< * Winner of 4th Grand National Baking Contest --- COOKIES: 1 1/2 Cup sifted Pillsbury's Best all purpose flour 1/2 tsp. double-acting baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. ginger 2/3 Cup butter or shortening 1/4 Cup sugar 1/4 Cup firmly packed brown sugar 1 egg 2 T. molasses 1/2 Cup (about 2 oz) finely crushed peppermint stick candy Sift together 1st. 6 ingredients. Cream sugars, egg, and butter. Cream well. Add molasses. Beat well. Add peppermint and flour mixture. Mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. BAKE in 350F oven for 12-15 minutes. Let Cool and Frost. --- PEPPERMINT FROSTING: 2 Cups sifted powdered sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. crushed peppermint stick candy 2 T. soft butter Few drops red food color 1-3 T. milk Combine 1st 4 ingredients together.
