>----------> G I N G E R B R E A D <----------< 1/2 Cup shortening 1/3 Cup brown sugar, packed 1 egg 1/2 Cup light molasses 1 1/2 Cups flour, unsifted 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. ginger 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 Cup boiling water Beat shortening and sugar until creamy. Add egg and molasses. Beat well. Mix dry ingredients thoroughly. Add to molasses mixture alternating with boiling water. Beat after each addition. Pour into greased 8x8x2 inch pan.
