SHANGRALA'S

BEAR PLAYGROUND!


Here we have a bear cub asking 'Mamma' if he can go and play. She must of said it was OK. The following photographs of four black bears cavorting on a backyard playset were taken by a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, in August 2006. The lady explained the circumstances behind the pictures.


She says, 'I was getting the boys (ages 3 & 4) ready for daycare in the morning. My mom (who lives downstairs) called me and said to look out the window at the playset. Ta-da! There they were. Four black bears having a grand old time.'

Here are the pictures she took of them playing. Enjoy! :)

One of the bears is chewing a toy fire truck. When he would bite down on the button
that would sound the siren, He'd jump up, but, it didn't scare him or the others off.

Since then, they hooked up an air horn. That way, the boys can alert
them if a moose or bear or porcupine or any other critter comes around.

This past summer [2007] they had other groups of bears come to play.
