CHINESE FOOD MARKETS!

Broadly comparable to European farmers' markets, the markets in China stock everything from fruit and vegetables to fresh meat, seafood to herbs and spices, all in open-air market type displays.       Unfortunately, unlike our farmers' markets, live animals are still for sale in these Chinese food markets that reopened after the country declared victory over the Coronavirus. Cages full of chickens, cats and dogs waiting for slaughter and the unsanitary preparation of animals is again reportedly a common sight in Chinese food markets, often called wet-markets.       As places to stroll and chat with friends and neighbors, the Chinese markets form an important part of the tapestry of Chinese life and constitute an affordable source for their food.
