DRIFTWOOD ART 2!

Artist Pete Rush is bringing joy to Australian beaches during the COVID-19 pandemic. One day he impulsively made a simple horse sculpture on a Terrigal beach from natural materials and the response from the locals was so positive, it inspired him to create a seaside menagerie that includes horses and megafauna. Rush only uses driftwood, flax and seaweed. He trys not to disturb the natural growing vegetation. He mainly works at night to avoid attracting a crowd of onlookers during the time of physical distancing.       Pete knows though, that for all his hard work, many of his sculptures are just going to be reclaimed by the ocean. But He explains his continued passion for it by saying that in the end, it's a bit of fun in bad times.
