The Shelby Supercars Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo set the NEW World’s Fastest Production Car Record with an average top speed of 255.83 mph! On a temporarily-closed 2 lane public highway in Washington State, the SSC Ultimate Aero posted a top speed of 257.11 mph (413.83 kph) on its first pass and 254.55 mph (409.71 kph) on its return pass, achieving a new top speed record: a staggering 255.83 mph (411.76 kph). SSC used a turbo V8 outputting 1183 HP and 1094 lbs. of torque. The use of lightweight carbon fiber materials allows for a low dry weight of 2750 lbs. giving the Aero TT the production record for lbs/hp ratio at 2.33. From 207 to 252.2mph, here are VCAR's choice for the Next World's Top Fastest Production Cars! #1: The Bugatti Veyron (2004) at 252.2 MPH, 1001 BHP is without a doubt the King of Speed. And Guess What? You can own this beauty for a mere $1.7 million! Powered by an 8.0-litre engine, the 1888kg Veyron Pur Sang has a top speed of 407km/h. At top speed a full fuel tank will be emptied in only 12 minutes. The 16-cylinder engine has four turbochargers and delivers an amazing 1001 horsepower to all four wheels. That's about 736kW @ 6000rpm. The huge W16 engine belts out 1250Nm at 2200rpm. #2: Koenigsegg CCX (2006) 250 MPH, 900 BHP is a futuristic looking car! It's looks are not deceiving - It's the fastest V8 powered car in the world! #3: Saleen S7 (2005) 248 MPH, 750 BHP is the only American supercar on VCAR'S list. It achieves Zero-to-60 in just under four seconds! Amazingly, at 160 mph with its extreme ground effects engineering, it could be driven upside down and still stay on the road! The Saleen has a huge race pedigree. In March 1999, a computer millionaire died after crashing his F1 into a tree on the A120 in Great Dunmow, Essex. Apparently, parts of the car were found up to a quarter of a mile from the crash site. #5: Ferrari Enzo (2002) 217 MPH, 657 BHP was built in honor of the founder, Enzo Ferrari. The F60 looks simular to the car in Batman. When you think high performance supercar, you think Ferrari! Italian beauty oozes from its sleek lines and aggressive stances. #6: Jaguar XJ 220 (1992) 217 MPH, 549 BHP was to be the world's first 200 mph production car. It sparked a golden era of supercars in the late 80’s / early 90’s. Jaguar was British owned and was the company's pride. #7: Pagani Zonda F (1999) 215 MPH, 602 BHP is one of the very few supercars that have the same attention to detail inside as out. Stunning design that you would expect from a mad Italian creator! Praised heavily for its handling and acceleration, the Zonda is arguably the most desirable car in the top 10. #8: Lamborghini Murcielago (2003) 213 MPH, 633 BHP has to be on the list. The Lamborghini is dedicated to speed and beauty! Since the early 1970’s Countach, the Lamborghini has been what Ferrari owners aspire to. A legendary V12 race prepared engine thunders the car to 100 kmph in 3.4 seconds. #9: Porsche Carrera GT (2004) 209 MPH, 605 BHP is possibly a challenger for most beautiful supercar, The 911 inspired Carrera GT, based on the 1985 959 Turbo is an awesome machine. The sleek lines and styling hold this car back from other futuristic cars that hold the 220mph+ level, but the GT is still capable of holding it’s own! #10: McLaren Mercedes SLR (2005) 207 MPH, 626 BHP, the Big Mac, is the fastest production true automatic car in the World. Famously written off by Prince Naseem Hamed causing a prison sentence, the SLR is an awesome machine and is belirved by many to be capable of more. The SLR stands for “super leicht, Rennsport”
