Lions and tigers are the royal animals of the animal kingdom. Once separated by
continents, today they are located next to each other in zoos around the world.
White ligers are a new addition to the big cat family and particularly among
the hybrid big cat family. A white liger is an offspring that results from a male
white lion as its father and a female white tigress as its mother. Genetically;
a white liger is no different from a regular tawny colored liger because both
of these ligers will have the same attributes.
Meet Ivory, a white African lion and Saraswati, a snow-white Bengal tigress. The big
cats met at Myrtle Beach Safari in South
Carolina, USA. The couple gave birth to the first ever baby cub of a white lion
involved with a white tiger.

Meet Odeline, Samson, Yeti, and Apollo. They are called white ligers.
These white male liger cubs at Myrtle Beach Safari are considered the first
ever white liger cubs in the world.
As you can see, their fur is mostly white, but unlike their mother, they have
some stripes.
White ligers are not as much white as their parents but rather
they have an off-white, cream color. Their fur color is slightly paler
than the normal ligers.
These male cubs will grow up and be sterile. Only the female ligers can produce.
The White liger cubs made a huge news buzz globally. People were really excited
to see this new breed within the big cat family.
The cubs are expected to reach 10ft tall by two years old and weigh around
750lbs. When they are four-year-old, they could weigh over 900lbs.

Moksha along with other team members has been primarily responsible for
raising these white liger cubs.
Dr. Bhagavan Antle who has more than 40 years of experience with the big cats
including the ligers, predicted that among all the white liger brothers Yeti,
pictured above, will become the biggest liger and will weigh more than 900 pounds.
Ligers tend to enjoy swimming, which is a characteristic of tigers, and
are sociable like lions.
