WORLD'S LARGEST HOLES!

Welcome! Come on in. This world of ours sure has some amazing big holes! Here are three of the largest holes in the world! Mirny diamond mine in Siberia is the largest open diamond mine in the world. Around 525 meters deep with a top diameter of 1200 meters!

To give you more of an understanding of the size of this hole, look at the little red arrow to the right of this next picture. Incredibly, it is pointing to an almost invisible large yellow construction dump truck!

There’s even a no-fly zone above the hole due to a few helicopters being sucked in. No kidding! For those who don't believe it, here are some Helicopter Expert explanations for you to understand this better.

The Bingham canyon mine in Utah is the largest man-made excavation on earth. Extraction began in 1863 and still continues today. The large pit is increasing in size constantly. It's currently around 3/4 mile deep and 2.5 miles wide.

The glory hole belonging to Monticello dam in California is the largest drain hole in the world. This funnel-shaped outlet, allows water to bypass the dam when it reaches capacity. It swallows at a rate of 48,400 cubic feet per second!

The distance from the funnel to the exit point at the south side of the canyon is about 700 feet.

Swimming near the glory hole is both prohibited and stupid. There are buoys strung across the lake to discourage boaters and swimmers from approaching the glory hole and the dam. Furthermore, the glory hole is well fenced off from the land.
